I have a question about a scar i have on my knee from knee surgery! It has turned into a keloid scar and it is a dark color of purple and red! I was wondering if anyone knows any home remedies that can get it flat and make it lighter in color!

I dont think that a home remedy will help in getting rid of keloid scar. Even with the help of medical treatments its difficult to treat fully.
Keloids can occur from skin injuries like surgical incisions, traumatic wounds, vaccination sites, burns, chickenpox, acne, or even minor scratches.
They occur due to unchecked growth of fibroblasts (cells responsible for healing of wounds).

TREATMENT OPTIONS:

Most keloids dont require any treatment. Most keloids will flatten and become less noticeable over a period of several years.
If necessary following treatment options are considered:
-freezing (cryotherapy)
-external pressure,
-corticosteroid injections,
-laser treatments,
-radiation,
-surgical removal.
keloids are notorious to reappear (sometimes larger than before) after they have been removed !! There is upto 50% chance of happening this after a surgical removal.

So if you are really sick of this scar, see a dermatologist and discuss the available options.

cheers!

I am not sure about surgery scars, but when i have a scar, i use the product "SCAR ZONE" found at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc. It helps reduce scar's apperance, size, and stretch marks. Hope this helps!

There are LOADS of scar creams that your doctor can prescribe you but in the mean time use a bit of foundation on your forehead when the rash has cleared up (the doctor can give you some creme for that too). As for your hands, every time you wash them, dry them properly and moisturize with 'Vaseline intensive rescue soothing hand creme, hypoallergenic for very dry skin' ITs what I use and it works like magic on dry skin and keeps it soft and moisturized.

cocoa butter lotion is what i use to help heal scars and stuff, but a dermatologist is the best idea for one like yours.

it is better if you go to the dermatologist, because he is the only specialist who can tell you what should you use. take care!
