Great question! I started cooking with my little girl when she was old enough to stand on a stool beside me, and now she is an accomplished cook at age 12. Kids love to stir things, like dips, salsa, etc. I used put the ingredients for salsa in a food processor, and let her push the button-they love things that make noise! Older children can be given a butter knife to chop soft fruits and vegetables. I bought my daughter a junior chef kit when she was about 4, that had a mini rolling pin, cookie cuters, small knife, apron, etc. I think its wonderful to encourage cooking. Slice and bake cookies are easy, though not the most nutritious. Perhaps you could make some bisquits, muffins, or corn muffins. Mac and cheese is fun. Even just whipping up a smoothie or shake encourages kids to enjoy being in the kitchen. Good luck-that quality time with the little ones is oh, so awesome. Before you know it, they are grown up and starting to show interest in little boys! (heaven help me) lol I am giving your question a star!

Apple Ladybug Treats
"Red apples are decorated to look like lady bugs. This is a quick and fun snack that kids will enjoy making and eating. For once kids can play with their food."
1.Slice apples in half from top to bottom, and scoop out the cores using a knife or melon baller. If you have an apple corer, core them first, then slice. Place each apple half flat side down on a small plate.
2.Dab peanut butter on to the back of the 'lady bug', then stick raisins onto the dabs for spots. Use this method to make eyes too. Stick one end of each pretzel stick into a raisin, then press the other end into the apples to make antennae.
No Bake Peanut Butter Balls
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
1 cup crushed corn flakes cereal
2 tablespoons powdered milk
Set corn flakes aside.
Mix all other ingredients well.
Roll into balls.
Then roll again in Cornflakes until covered.
Refrigerate leftovers!!
Yummy Snack! Great with milk !

A quick ''kind of'' pizza:
You put butter in a pan and you sped it in the bottom.
Then you take slices of bread(the square ones that you use for toast)and you lay them in the pan covering the bottom or leave your little one do this.
On the top of the bread you put bacon, and after the bacon yellow grained cheese.
You cut tomatoes in round pieces and you put them over each slice of bread(about ,you don't actually see the bread now,hi-hi).
You mix 2 eggs and 1 1/2 cup of milk in a bowl and you pour the mixture in the pan ,over the tomatoes.
You can add a bit of the yellow cheese on the top if you want and it;s ready to put in the oven.
I think it needs about 15-20min in 170 dgrs.
I wish you good luck,I think it's easy for u and the kids.
