try doing intervals. one day on one day off for 4 days then do the
2 miles on the fifth day.
for intervals cover more than 2 miles but do 30 seconds sprinting 30 seconds jogging. try to go harder as you go longer as research shows fitness improves better and quicker with a gradual rise in heartbeat. if you havent done any activity for a while walk in the off days and evenings for the same distance to aid the recovery.

5 minutes might be a bit much to ask in a week, good luck!

Good luck. There's nothing you can do to change your aerobic conditioning in a week. It takes a couple weeks to a month to have ANY effect at all.

About all you can do is make sure you have decent broken-in running shoes, and rest the day before so you're ready to rock.

If your running form is really awful, you might be able to make some changes there. I can't help you virtually, but if you know somebody that coaches track at the local high school, have them take a look at your stride.

Be careful about trying to do to much practice before the test. You could end up stiff, sore, and worse off than if you'd done nothing.
