Carbon dioxide is a fundamental requirement for synthesizing carbohydrates through photosynthesis. Essentially, it serves the same purpose as oxygen does in animals.

Plants use convert carbon dioxide to oxygen during
photosynthesis. The carbon dioxide is used to convert sunlight into energy, the byproduct being Oxygen.

n CO2 + 2n H2O + ATP + NADPH → (CH2O)n + n H2O + n O2, (From Wikipedia)

basically, plants "inhale" carbon dioxide, and "exhale" oxygen. When they inhale the the carbon dioxide, they change it to their food, glucose, which is pretty much just sugar. That's the simplest way I can put it.

A little process called PHOTOSYNTHESIS!!!!
Carbon dioxide reacts with water in the presence of sunlight to produce glucose(carbohydrates) and oxygen.
sunlight provided energy (photon)to drive the reaction in the forward direction. and is aborbed by the chlorophyll which is in the chloroplast. there are two types of chlorophyll a and b which absorb energy in different wavelenghts of light .

Why is oxygen important to u??? The plant makes it's food from the Corbin part, and giver us the oxygen.

because plants need carbon dioxide to grow and to have photosynthesis, and their chloroplast need to made food throught photosynthesis.

i hope u know the word ecosystem.this means a place where flora and fauna live together in natural conditions.so one condition is exchange of air(co2,o2)so this is the process also for photosynthesis so co2 is important for plants

We breath out CO2.
Platnts use it for photosynthesis for making food.
But the one of product is Oxygen which is vital for us to live.
No oxygen no man lives....So love plants/trees ...plant more trees..love the (thy) trees.

This was planned by nature/ God many many years ago for us . How loving.
