a friend of mine taught my oldest son to tie "bunny ears" as he calls it. have him make an "x" with his shoe laces on top of his shoe, take the shoelace that is on top and put it underneath the bottom one go through the hole and pull, once it is tight have him take each shoe lace and make a loop as big as a bunny's ears, make an "x" and push the bunny ear that is on top underneath the bottom ear and push it through the hole...ta da! my son is now 17 yrs old and still does it this way...lol hope this helps!

Show them step by step on your shoes, and let them try it on theirs. Hands-on is a great method to learn. Be patient! I wouldn't recommed rewarding them, though, because then they will expect something every time they tie their shoes....

My son learned w/ the "bunny ear" method. That is where you make two loops and tie them together. I was taught the one loop, crossover method.

they call it Bunnie ears in school that's how my child learned. You tell to take the 2 rabbits and overlap them then take 1 rabbit and pull him through the rabbit hole. Then take both rabbits and pull them tight. then make a bunny's ear with one string and take the other string and wrap it around the bunnies ear and pull it through.

make sure you're both facing the same direction when you show the child how. facing each other only confuses things.

I guess I just showed them step by step and they eventurally caught on and have been able to do it since. Both my girls (ages 4 and 5 when they learned) learned on the same day...it was great...

Show them how to do it step by step. Reward them if they do it correctly too.
