Many of these folks use the Gospel message of Peace and Love to spread hatred in the name of Christ. Isn't doing the opposite of Jesus actually anti-christian, especially if it is done in His name?

The only ones I can think of that prove with their actions they're not Christians are the "God Hates F*gs" people from Westboro Baptist Church.

Why do they do it? Because they follow a false teacher and prophet. We are repeatedly warned by Jesus, Peter, Paul and John that these wolves would come to steal sheep away from the fold. Their condemnation is waiting for them when they stand before the Judge of the world.

In the meantime, I ignore them and preach the true word. However, when Westboro threatened to protest at the Amish schoolgirls' funeral (about 30 miles from where I live), my church and I were planning to be there to peacefully block them. That's about as involved as I want to get with them.

Well, as a born again, conservative, fundamentalist christian, I can tell you that it's because fundamentalists ARE christian.

Now, the so-called fundamentalists that the press centers on are what we call radical fruitcakes. A pretty technical term, I know, but I think you get the picture.

An actual fundamentalist is someone who believes the fundamentals of the bible, believes that it is Gods inspired word, and tries to live a good and Godly life.

The press likes to call those who twist the bible to their own prejudices fundamentalists. They are in fact, not fundamentalists at all.

As for spreading hatred being anti-christian, I would say yes, it is. But, if you are referring to speaking out against abortion, homosexuality, wanton sexual misconduct, then you are wrong.

To say God hates the people that do these things is wrong, and those are the ones that the press likes to tag as fundamentalists.

To say God hates the sin these people do is correct, but you really have to be careful in how you word things and how you approach the subject. This is where things get complicated.

So you are actually looking at he word "fundamentalist" in the wrong way. Instead of listening to what Dan Rather has to say about christianity, why not talk to Christians? You'll get better answers from the horses mouth instead of the other end.

Do you even know what the word "fundamental" means? Let me help you on that, it means to get down down to the basics. The "fundamentalists are the true Christians, others read way to much into scripture. The Bible is a simple easy to read book, if you do not try to read to much into it. It all boils down to this, If you want to spend eternity with God then you must accept the sacrifice made when Jesus died on the cross, and rose again three days later. Then you live the rest of your life to please God, and if you slip up you simply ask God to forgive you and go on with life. IT IS THAT SIMPLE!!!

We call ourselves Christians because we're followers of Jesus Christ. However, you're right, there are some Christians who give all of us a bad name by doing things that God would not want us doing. They need prayer just as badly as anyone else.

Because they are convinced that they are doing what God wants them to.

Some belive that Christ wasn't here to spread peace and love, but the message of God. Even Jesus became angry on occasion.

If you think Jesus was some sissy liberal you are sadly mistaken and need to read your bible more closely. Jesus tells us in Luke 19:27

But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Clearly Jesus was not some namby pamby liberal. He was a warrior fighting against Satan and if we want to avoid being tortured in hell by Jesus we need to stand with him.

Because scripture tells me so in the name of Jesus.

Not by my works...by His.

And if you're referring to my homosexual post....

I was not spreading hate...I was spreading truth. If I fluff the truth in the name of political correctness...shame on me.

I think so, but sadly, I believe I'm in the minority, and because I'm a "heathen" Agnostic, a lot of people think my opinion doesn't count anyway.
