i took my freinds daughter swimming to an indoor pool yesturday. she is only 3. i thought i had packed everything but reaized i forgot the top to her two peice outft. but i figured it was ok and she went swimming without the top part. we were only in the ppol for a few minutes when the lifegaurd said that ALL women must wear tops and that if I did not dress her property we wouhave to be kicked out. i explained she was not a woman but a baby. Her upper body is no different from the little boys running around, but he said it was lewd and disrespeful and a form of public nudity and child endangerment! Eventully people aroundus defended us and the manager came over and said we were doing nothing wrong and let us stay... But why is it so important or taboo fr a little girl not to wear a top if she is not devolped? i dont think i will go back to that pool though

I do not think that there is nothing wrong in a little girl of that age to not wear a top whether they be at a pool or the beach. I would have raised kane with that guy. Now i could see someone saying something if it was a bigger kid like around 6 years old.
That guy was just being a smarta**. I have been to plenty of pools, lakes and beaches and no one has ever jumped onto a parent of a little girl with no top on.

It is the two face standard America has established. I live part time in The Dominican Republic and the children run and play at the beach only wearing bottoms..I have seen ages up to maybe 10 yrs...and gush..they are all so happy and free not having to stop and pull and tug at a stupid top all day long...and...men there are not considered perverts as women take men to be here in the USA...everyone enjoys a beautiful care free enviromrent...the men go after the grown up stuff there so the girls are safe........I love when the kids spot me and come an "mob" me...little girls and boys so sweet and happy to meet a different person..an ole grey headed man...the kids there have not been taught the stupid things people teach their kids here..stay away from strangers...I feel so free and happy there not having to worry about being arrested just for being a man on the beach with little girls close by

i do no longer understand. it rather is comfortable. might I placed my daughter (if I had one) in a bikini? No. yet i'm no longer approximately to tell others a thank you to determine. Ya understand? i think of mum and dad must be a minimum of somewhat shielding. There must be a stability. If there have been advantages to donning a bikini i might understand. As a toddler what are some large advantages of donning one vs a a million piece? i do no longer see any advantages, yet there seem negatives to donning a 2 piece so why do it? Logically the a million piece makes extra experience.

I agree with you completely.
It's a sad world when any breast in any form is concidered sexual. Whether it's a little girl swimming or a mother discretely nursing a baby, somebody somewhere is going to have a problem and make an ignorant comment.
Children learn from our examples. We're still in the effcts of the ways our parents and grandparents were raised. Think bathing suits from the neck to the knee for a while. It's going to be a while before people realize that being ashamed of everything isn't what's best for us.

Its unfortunate you had to go through that ordeal. Personally, I don't see the big deal, since she is only 3 years old. I think the guy might have had a bug up his butt, and decided to take it out on you. I would just make sure next time you bring the whole bathing suit, and I don't blame you for not going back there, atleast not 'til that lifegaurd is gone for good!

The lifeguard could have been a little more polite about the matter but as sad as it is little girls cant be running around with no tops due to the way the world is going. Look at all the little girls who are stalked and raped and killed. It is very sad but happens every day. There are way to many pedifiles in the world to be letting a little girl run around with no top. I think its better to be safe than sorry. I understand you forgot the top but use a tshirt perhaps?

In South Africa, so my friend tells me, swimsuits for little girls are just "bottoms"
I think North Americans have hang-ups about nudity.
When I first moved to Canada I laughed when I saw bra's in little girl sizes - where I came from you only got a bra when you had something to put in it! Here, little girls of 8 or 10 years old were wearing 'training bras' - training for what?
No, there was nothing wrong with allowing your three year old girl to swim without her bikini top on.

Because that lifegaurd was some weirdo, only he would think of things like that. I brought my cousin swimming to a BBQ my family was having (2 yrs old) and she only had those swimming diapars, no ezxtra clothes. Nobody said anything about it because there is nothign wrong with it! Dont feel bad at all.
