any help with energy conservation management of a hospital?

we would like to do a study regarding a hospital in our community. Any help with the concepts that we might put in. Like what are the effects of poor design in the wastage of energy which results to higher cost of electricity...

I am an electrical engineer and my Graduation project was about hospitals i can help you so i will give you few tips which might help you:

1 - try to use flourcent or compact flourcent for lighting in general areas with electronic ballast

2 - use energy saving systems for lighting esepicaly in corridors and stairs like microwave sensors or motion detectors that will switch on these places when ther is movement and will switch off after a delay if there is not any one

3 - use high efficiecy elevators

4 - use central systems for heating, cooling, and water heating because central systems save a lot of energy

5 - use high quality installations ( equipments, devices, instrumintations...etc )

6 - for extrior lighting use compact flourcent or high pressure sodium or if you can mercury ( mercury is the most efficeint light but its colour rendering is bad

7 - for exterior lighting system use photo sensors to control the lighting switching on and off with the sunlight its easy not costy and will save alot of energy

8 - for water heating system you can use the solar cells systems its purly mechanics and only heat the water by utilizing the sun light and its very efficeint and you can use it for space heating too

9 - if the kichen equipments are electrical so but a restrict rules to use them

10 - you can use automatic power factor corrector at the main power supply to improve the power factor althouth its very expensive and need a researsh to know if the hospital need such a thing

11 - put some notes on high power consumption equipments that says for example " Please turn the machine off after use"
or "if you are not using this machine please turn it off"
