A man was sitting reading his paper when his wife bashed him on the head with a wooden spoon, "what was that for" he asked,
" I just found a piece of paper in your coat with the name Mary Ellen on it", quick as a flash he said " that was the name of the horse at the races last week". A few days later his wife hit him with the frying pan, "what was that for" he asked", "your horse just rang" she said.
