The precise location of the Altar and the Holy of Holies is not known. It is known (or at least strongly believed) that the Dome of the Rock sits over the site. It should be noted that the Dome complex is considerably larger than the structure of the Temple so that it is likely the majority of the Temple site proper is beneath the Dome complex.

I've been there. There is currently no Jewish Temple. The last Jewish temple was destroyed in 70 c.e. by the emporer Titus. The Western Wall, or Wailing Wall, is the only thing that remains of it, and the holiest site in Judaism. Hassidic Jews (big hats and long curls at their temples) don't even go up to the temple mount (where the Dome of the Rock is), because they don't want to step on the Holy of Holies and offend God.

Personally, I've been up there, and there is PLENTY of space for a 3rd Jewish temple. But the day they start construction, it's WW3. Check out some fox news articles about the re-building of some stairs on the temple mount, and how the Muslims pretty much freaked out about it.

If you ever get the chance to go to Israel, the Temple Mount is not a place to miss!

The area behind the Western Wall known as the Temple Mount is the place where the Jews used to have their Temple. It's the holiest place for Jews. However, the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD and it now has the Dome of the Rock and AL Aksa Mosque. The rock, however, does have some Jewish significance because the rock on which Muslims believe Muhammad ascended to heaven is also believed to be the place where Abraham almost sacrificed his son.

It's holy to both religions.

The Jewish temple that was in the pass will be built again where the dome of the rock is at, The reason many reffers to it as being in the hands of Gentiles, is Because God turned it over to the Gentiles to be trodden down until the endtime, Israel will get all their land back including all of Jerusalem & they will once again build their temple where the dome is at. Read Amos 9:11-12 It speaks how God will let Israel once again build the tabernacle of David as it was in former days, & Israel will posses the remnant of Edom, & From River Egypt to River Euphrates down to Dedan, There is many prophecies concerning this.

Supposedly it extremely is the position the Arc of the Covenant sat. in case you move the temple you'll locate the position there's a flat area with a "nook" decrease into the rock as if the Arc ought to have sat there. some believe it really is the position the position Abraham replaced into going to sacrifice his son, some believe it really is the position Muhammad ascended to heaven. Others believe that Solomons treasures nonetheless lie below. Who is regularly occurring with of. strong success getting any form of settlement to do a joint Muslim/Israeli archaeological dig.

Yes, it was placed there for the specific purpose of denying the Jewish people access to their holiest site. This atrocity has been going on for over 1300 years.
