what's the total budget for Hongkong trip?
Ive been there many times, but this time, as some of my friends told me, I am spending a lot compared to them when it comes to ticket & hotel...
How much should the budget be for both hotel and airfare?
The last trip i had in HK , I had a total hotel and airfare (excluding taxes) of 20K, was it expensive?

Well have to see how long you stayed in Hong Kong and what currency you paid in. :o)

Usually Cathay Pacific has package deals to HK especially Jul-Aug with the HK Annual Sale promotions. So this period should be able to get good deals. And sometimes other airlines do come in too to offer special packages.

Main thing if you do not want to overspend, shop around and compare prices. Book during a travel fair. Catch special country promotions. This way you can get good deals on your trip.

Depending on where you are flying in from. Budget hotel is around HK500/room/night. If you are taking taxi everywhere you go, of course. MTR (the underground) is alot cheaper and it's really convenient. The 20k you mentioned, in what currency, may I ask? And, for how long did you stay in HK? Rather difficult to comment if the currency is not available and neither is your length of stay.

No, all taxes and airport prices should be blanketed in the fee of your air fee ticket already. the in person-friendly words fee you've gotten to pay on the airport is once you've extreme luggage over the allowance.
