aside from the potential damage would the car accelerate faster,eg. toyota starlet 1L gearbox in a 1.3L corolla.

its going into a rally car so top speed is not as important as acceleration.. i would like to know how substantial the acceleration advantage would be

it will put off the line quicker but your top end speed will be reduced

Typically the gear ration on a 1ltr or 1.3ltr are about the same and therefor there should be not difference in the acceleration or top speed. However you need to bear in mind that if you are going to use it for a rally car project you would be better off using a 2ltr gear box as it will be able to take the strain of rally driving. You will need to change the 1st and 2nd gear ratios to get a faster pull away.

If the transmission will bolt up & the gear ratios are similar, there is no problem with the interchange.

the diff ratio is differenton a 1.3 to a1l.it may match up but performance would,nt be the same .
