I am not sure what being uncomfortable with Harry Potter and your sexual orientation have to do with each other. But the easiest way to find the truth is to seek it. Why don't you ask him if Harry Potter makes him uncomfortable and why. A lot of people are uncomfortable with witch craft. Realize that Wicca is a religion in itself. So if he is from a different faith background he may be uncomfortable because of his beliefs.

Your friend AND work? Or friend AT work? Or friend AND Co-worker?
Most people don't understand the relationship between Christmas and Solstice, and I assume that has nothing to do with his dislike of Harry Potter. More likely, he heard some ignorant preacher explaining that these books are tantamount to an indoctrination in Paganism. This crap has been going around since the first Harry Potter volume hit the shelves. It's idiocy, as anyone who knows anything about Paganism would be able to tell you.
Nothing in the Harry Potter books has any useful information regarding Paganism. It does not mention ANY gods. It contains no information regarding ceremonial magick. It's pure fantasy, but the religious right uses it as a tool to try to say that paganism is attempting to sway the youth of the world.
It's reactionary ignorant rhetoric.

you haven't even mentioned why you think he's gay. yes christmas comes from the pagan celebration of yule - the return of the son at the solstice, and some christians have a problem with celebrating that. some christians don't like harry potter because he practices witchcraft and they think thats a sin. who knows, maybe he's a closet pagan and can't seem to get the courage to tell his family. give him support no matter what he's going though

HI
Sounds like he could be a Jehovah's Witness or something that doesn't believe in pagan holidays or spiritism and listens to the Bible warning to steer clear of them, no I don't think that is homosexual behavior but probably a god fearing person not willing to risk his relationship with God by persuing an interest in things that displease God. Some maybe give him a break many people feel that way.

Harry Potter is written about witchcraft which I believe to be the cause of the rise of Wiccans in our country. Sorcery and witchcraft are sins and God tells us in His word to not partake in their practices. Young teenage girls are trying to learn witchcraft so they can put spells on people. Any attempts to contact the darkside or dead is dangerous. It opens one up to demonic possession. Whether you believe it or not there are evil spirits all around us. Harry Potter seems innocent enough but it has a very dark side to it. Why do you think millions of people are drawn to the books? The evil spirits pull them. Evil begets evil.
