I wrote a paper once on the nature of sin and evil according to the Bible... There are many things the Bible calls sin, but I've seen two things that God had destroyed entire nations for. One is IDOLATRY, the other is OPPRESSION.
Idolatry = objectification, abuse and manipulation of God
Oppression = objectification, abuse and manipulation of fellow man.
These two things violate what the scriptures call the two greatest commands:
-Love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength
-Love your neighbor as yourself
When people begin to build things, then worship the things they have built, then they begin to abuse, use, harm and try to crush their fellow man, they've reached the most serious form of corruption.
