I don't have a tattoo on my foot, but since the foot is an area with very little fat and a large concentration of nerves and blood vessels, it would hurt more than a tattoo on, say, the arm. The general rule is that the closer to the bone it is, the more it will hurt.

Like others have said all tattoos are painful to some extentent. You also have to take into account your pain threshold. Personally, I did not feel it was any different than any other of my tats (been in the chair 11 times w/ 8 tats). I have stars on the top of both feet w/ no black outline. I actually had them done twice. The first time I was a "lab rat" my artist mixed blacklight ink w/ the regular ink. My body did not like that and I rejected the ink. They stayed really really sore for a month after that, but the 2nd time I had it done it was a piece of cake. No rejection, no pain, I was walking fine like nothing had happened.

I got one on the top of my foot, didn't hurt that much really, pretty high pain threshhold, but when the artist did hit a sensitive spot, my leg jerked, which he said was normal with foot tattoos. It didn't hurt nearly as much as the tribal I have clear across the lower back, I could barely stand to have him finish the outline and so far that is all I have of my tribal.

All tattoos hurt to a certain degree. I would imagine that the foot would be particularly painful as there is so little fat beneath the skin surface.

I have one on my foot just below the ankle that hurt like hell and bled like crazy. The tattoo artist warned me but I went ahead and did it anyway.
I also have one on my lower back that didn't hurt at all, so it's not that I think getting a tattoo hurts but believe me your feet are ultra sensitive.

omg yes. I have one on the top of my foot, it was so painful I couldn't let him finish. That was 8 years ago and I still have an unfinished tattoo on my foot.

i got one on the top of my foot and it was my first tattoo. i'm a HUGE baby and it wasnt that bad. i mean it hurt, but obviously a needle going into your skin is gonna hurt. it was worth it.
it hasnt faded and the ink didnt run either, even though everyone told me both would happen.

Good question. ive researched this actually for personal reasons. yes it will hurt, but be more worried that yout tattoo is going to fade faster. Skin on your feet and hands replenish themselves fasyer than any other part of the body. You ask any good tattoo artist and thay will tell you the same. id advise against it.

It's a tattoo, so there is going to be a certain amount of pain. Depends on your tolerance level for how bad it hurts you.

ummm, HECK YESS! i have had both of my feet tattooed and it was definitely the most painful tattoo pain ever. my tattoo artist told me ahead of time that it was really really really going to hurt and that i would probably cry. i didn't.
