More to the point, why did it not continue to be used?

If Jesus was in heaven until he was born, and after he ascended, and the holy spirit is everywhere, surely the norm would be to always use the plural form?

MzJakes: Where is the court of angels mentioned? I think that is in one of Milton's stories and not the bible. Correct me if I am wrong.

VW: If god is omniscient, why did he need a council?

Fuzzy: Since Jesus was not in human form at that time, he would still have been omniscient. There would be no need for his father to inform him of his plans.

Genesis 1:26.

It speaks of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He speaks as if He called a council to consider of the making of man.

God started out as a plural being (dual), male and female, but shortly there-after, turns into the male HeHim "God'. I wonder how all men are sinning. How is that old Lucifer opposing Gods true kingdom I wonder. This conflict has gone on for so long, that people don't even give it a thought. Its called the universal war, or, war of the ages.

God is talking to his angelic family, not to Jesus,as many thinks, Angels was already created, Jesus was not born yet & Jesus only laid in God's mind at that time as a thought. Go on down One more verse. Gen.1:27 After God said Let us(his Angelic Kingdom) God turns aroung in verse 27 & show that God created everything 27: So GOD (not the angels) created man in his own image. All God was doing was laying out a Blueprint. No angels ever created anything, God done it all by himself. I could tell my wife let's go buy a new car, She goes with me, But who do they sell the car to, Myself, Because my wife is a stay home wife, & my income is all there is, But yet I included my wife in on the car because she is a part of me, Therefore the Angels, is also a part of God's family, But yet God has the final say.

God was informing his court of angels of what he was about to do. By using the 'royal we', He sought to 'include' the angels in his decision. The lesson for us is that, even one who is in a position of great power, it is right and correct to solicit opinions and build consensus. That said, such a person must also be ready to stand alone when he judges that counsel to be the wrong path.

But look ahead a verse or two....when God actually does make man...it is written in the singular.

Some claim that this is evidence of the trinity.

Others point out that this is a regal form of language, such as is used by the Queen in England.

Why do you think Christ is called God's firstborn only begotten god?

He is also mentioned as being God's work master. And we are told that nothing came into existence except through Christ in his pre-human form.
