That is not a good reason for changing from the Catholic Church to something else|

If the bull is charging, you have to blast him point-blank without flinching|

Look at it this way, confessing such a thing is difficult indeed - it takes more courage than you know - but what has to be done has to be done if you are to enter the kingdom|

In the old days, people submitted to operations without anesthetic, because if they did not do so, the result would be death or at least severe life incapacitation|

Not a good reason to change churches. Praying to God for forgiveness will do. As long as you honestly repent of your sin and avoid the sin you'll be fine. There is no need to tell your priest. It is not a biblical requirement and I don't understand why the catholic church emphasizes it. If you still want to switch, then go to a church that teaches the bible and nothing else, like Calvary Chapel for example. The reason we go to church is to be saved, or if we are, to grow in the Word.

As a Catholic do you HAVE to confess to a priest? I was under the impression that Catholics could still talk to God in prayer. Confess straight to him, ask his forgiveness (if you feel you need it) and if saying "Our Fathers" and "Hail Marys" are needed God will let you know.

Do you think that God doesn't already know?
If you are being convicted by His Holy Spirit, you already know that you are being called to repentance. That means stopping, being sorry for what you've done, and turning a different direction - resolving to do things differently. It's an act of your will to do His will. Jesus is our chief priest and mediator... you asked Him for salvation.. you can ask Him to forgive you at anytime. He is faithful and just to forgive you, if you truly are sorry and repent. If this is not your heart's attitude, then you are lying to yourself and God. Your reluctance to talk with your priest is just guilt about your actions. If you feel that you can only obtain absolution through him, then you should do that.

Confess your sins to God directly through Jesus Christ....not a man.

I think you need a lot more help than your priest can give you..sounds like you may need a doctor or a shrink... To each their own but this is going a little far for me.

HI
You don't have to be catholic to confess your sins to God. Do it in private and repent which means don't practice it anymore and your sins can be forgiven.
