You just have to flat out tell him. Sit him down and say "Hey honey, there's something that's actually been bothering me for a while and I wanted to talk to you about it. It's kind of silly, but I really don't like it when you say...."
If he can't handle that than he doesn't deserve you. He should respect you for sitting him down and being honest and frank with him. Relationships are all about communication.
Good luck!

First ask yourself this: Do I want a boyfriend that I can't talk to ? Do I want a relationship where I have to ask people how to tell him that something upsets me? I imagine your answer would be "no" to both. Girl....don't become like so many other women who will sacrifice anything and everything (especially your own self respect) just to have a boyfriend!?
The answer is simple. Just say, Hon....I am really not crazy about that nick name....Please try to break that habit. I'm sure you mean no harm, but for some reason I find it annoying. Thanks! If he can't respect your feelings - well then you saved some time and learned something about him. Right? Then you decide if you want to settle for disrespect or not. (this is a small thing....so wonder how bigger, more important issues will be handled? You should certainly be able to address this small potatoes, right?) Good luck!

Tell him just like you stated in your question "I am not a bird" and tell him that you would appreciate it if he would refer to women in the appropriate way (ex. girl or woman). State this every time he calls you or any other female a "bird". He'll get it, and if he doesn't and it really irritates you that much you might want to move on to someone who knows you are a human. I have heard other guys say this and personally I think it's juvenile and silly.

he's just going through a phase right now. think back to when you had an obsession. it goes away with time. also make sure that the time you spend together isn't boring him. you shouldn't be scolding at him when he gets in trouble, because, like dogs, males don't respond to that. instead when he does something right, reward him by showing how much you appreciate him taking time off from his video game habbits. since men have a lot of pride, he'll be happy with himself for what he did well and will repeat it. don't make faces or frustrated comments when you hear he'll be playing video games that night; just stay with him when he does. it will show him your a great girlfriend and he'll want to repay you. just stay calm, positive, and go with the flow. best of luck.

Don't. Make up an annoying name about him. Like call him a name of a bird....Say, check out my Turkey here...he's my man..or something equally ridiculous. Then when he says something like..."why are you calling me a turkey???" You can say..well since you associate me with the "bird" family, I figured it was important to associate you with me..a turkey is a bird.
That ought to solve your problem.

Just tell him that you're not a bird and you don't like being called one.

Say, " Honey, I don't like it when you call me a bird" . The fact that he says you're hot is nice isn't it?

Spell it out nice and slowly. I don't think it's a particularly derogatory term, anymore than "shorty" or whatever, but tell him to just introduce you by name. That should get your feathers nice and smoothed!! Threaten to quack like a duck if he doesn't get the message.
