I know everyone out there w/ hair experience will yell at me, but I wash my hair twice per day. I know it is bad, but if I don't wash my hair at night the grease gets on my pillow and then gets into my skin and I get lots of blemishes (yes, I am 28 and still get zits). I care more about my skin than I do about my hair. But does anyone have any recommendations? I've tried sleeping with things on my head, but it is just not comfortable and I can't do it. My hair is color-treated, fairly long and fine in texture. Believe me, I have tried so many things to try to break this cycle, but every time I try something new, my skin breaks out. It is horrible. Can anyone help?

Hi, the same problem that makes your hair so oily is the same reason you still get skin breakouts - your glands are over-producing oils! So, you should probably look at the reason for this rather than just dealing with the effects. Usually a hormone imbalance is to blame for adult skin problems - even a slight overproduction of testosterone can be to blame for oily hair/skin (think why teenage boys get this problem!). So, perhaps just have your hormone levels checked....in reality, there is no good reason for you to have such oily hair naturally so I would loko into potential causes for this. It's probably nothing serious but it would be good to know why? If you don't want to see the Doc or have already, perhaps some natural treatments work - shampoo with tea-trea oil can be very good to calm down the sebaceous glands...also works great on skin problems too. Hope this helps :)

MMMM i don't think that your facial blemishes have to do with your hair. That's because a blemish is formed from the inside when oil is clogged in the pore causing bacteria.Ofcourse skin must be clear also from the outside. But honestly i don't think that the oil in your pillow from your hair causes the blemishes on your face.Maybe i'm wrong.Surely the worst thing to do is washing your hair twice a day.Doing this is the best way to make your hair more and more oily rather than keep them clean.I think the best thing to do is use a specified shampoo for excessive oiliness.I think Kerastase is a good solution.Propably you have used everything but try a good shampoo for oily hair and stick to it.Don't change it all the time.It will be a sort of therapy.

Honey. I don't think your breakouts are solely related to your hair's grease. Simply because of the fact that your face will produce more grease per night than your hair.
Change your pillow case before bed every night. Wash your face before bed. Make sure you are using non oil based hair products. Do you have a balanced diet? Drink enough water? Those things will have an impact on your hair and skin.
Have you tried sleeping with a thin scarf around your head? How about a hairnet? They are thin and you would barely notice them while sleeping.
Make sure your hands are washed before bed. You may be touching your face with your hands during sleep, the hands are the worst enemy of the face. We have so much bacteria on our hands.
Ever called a dermatologist? Maybe you have something else?

Try not using conditioner or not massaging it into your head. The more you wash your hair the more you need to. you can train it to go longer without a wash by slowly cutting back on the amount of washing. Also try rubbing just a little talcum powder on the roots not too much or your hair will look grey. hairspray absorbs grease as well. Blowdrying increases oil production. I hope one or a combination of these tips helps.

Put your hair back in a bun high on your head when you sleep at night. Also before bed, apply small ammounts of baby powder to your hair, It will absorb the oils in your hair and wont be as greasy. When I was a kid, my parents and I would live on a boat in the summer. We would use babypowder in our hair to keep it from being oily, and then swim all day long. It works wonders.

Try rinsing your hair with a solution of 1/3 cup brown vinegar, 2/3 cup water after washing, carefully pouring so it goes onto your scalp and avoiding your mouth & nose! Brown vinegar is good for your skin, and helpful for skin problems.
I also highly recommend Natural Instinct shampoo and conditioner. It is fantastic, as are the face products. 100% pure essential oils and organic herbs.
Hope this helps!

Put your hair up or wash your hair at night. When I was younger like in elementary, I would put my head on the bed and my hair on the pillow, lol.

i dont understand why your hair is that greasy...has your doctor ever suggested that something in your diet could be causing this? i am so sorry for you, but other than trying a dry powder type of over the counter hair shampoo, i am not sure what else to suggest. good luck.
