If you have free will, i.e. the ability to look to God for salvation, then God has a plan that can only have a foggy outcome. And that makes for a weak God, and you can change his eternal, sovereign will. Switch predestination around to choosing everyone and foreknowledge to a non sequitur of knowing how we will freely choose, and just call it a mystery (or a test) after that.
What is really weird is hearing someone pray for Uncle Joe's salvation and that God would work in his heart. But Uncle Joe has free will, so shouldn't we be praying to Uncle Joe? And if the Almighty is pleading and hoping and wringing his hands along with us, where does this place God?
Great question, and no disagreement at all from me. This is theology that simply doesn't work.

God's master plan has solutions to all the blunders made by man out of his freewill. We know in the end God has the victory. Mankind and all His other creations will be redeemed and restored to live in love, joy, peace and good health forever in the new heaven and new earth. It is not God's will for people to get sick or suffer which are the consequences of sin. Jesus Christ died on the cross to give mankind healing for sickness and freedom from suffering.

Let's understand "why" the master plan. God sending his son (Jesus) into the world to save sinners because of our first parents Adam & Eve disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Sin entered the world and every individual was born in sin. Now, God sending his son into the world to reconcile us back to him. The scripture said: Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. In other words without God master plan - Jesus would've gone thru perscutions, whippings, lyings then nail to the cross for our sins - ALL of us would be lost. But God's master plan is base on the scripture: John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should now perish but have everlasting life. So, now the plan has been made clear and we do have a choice - choose Life is Christ or choose death which is eternal damnation which is hell. Heaven and Hell does exist - so this is where every one has to make a decision.

God does not plan. He wills. He purposes. There is a distinct difference here. God's will is that all his human creation should live forever in a paradise earth free from death, illness, disease. His will is that they should enjoy peace and security always. Free will does not interfere with this. Free will is simply the ability to choose.
It is not God's plan for people to get sick. Therefore, praying to Him that people get better does not ruin his plan. You know the Lord's prayer? "Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place on earth as in the heavens . . . "
We are actually praying that God's kingdom (an actual government) take control so that his will is done on this earth as it is done in the heavens.
John 17:3 says that everlasting life is dependent upon taking in knowledge of God and the one he sent forth - Jesus Christ. Taking in knowledge also helps us to understand exactly what God's will is and how it will be realized. And taking in that knowledge also helps us to understand that when we pray the first part of the Lord's prayer - let your name be sanctified - we are asking that all the reproach and slander be removed from God's name. That includes the blame that is placed on his name for all the bad things that happen.

God's master plan was for humans to live in a paradise on earth, immortal and happy. That got side tracked, because God decided to let us prove to him that we don't need him. But His Master Plan is still going to be put into effect and all those that died will be ressurected through Jesus. (He gave us Free will because he doesn't want Robots. Example, you go to a school and don't study, disrespect the teachers, set fire to it etc--will you graduate? Is it the schools fault you didn't follow the rules? Those rules were just there to annoy you or for the good of the entire student body?)

His plan is for us to serve Him willingly. He knew we would sin and He planned to restore fellowship with us by giving us the gift of salvation through Jesus. His plan can't be ruined by humans actions, He knows what we are going to do and what we could do. God didn't want robots programed to love Him, He wanted humans who could choose to love Him.

We simply cannot explain all of the mysteries of God. He is greater than we are.....and is under no obligation to reveal everything to us in the here and now.

Stop trying to make sense of it all; you can't. Christians will tell you that you have free will, but God already knows what choices you will make. The question is, does God have free will? Logicaly, if the fuure is already known by him, then all of his decisions have to already have been made.
