AB -ve is the rarest blood group and you are lucky because you can have from O-ve, A-ve, B-ve and AB-ve people if you need a transfusion, however you can only donate to AB-ve and AB+ve people. Check out the blood service website, it's really very interesting.

Yes, it is rare, but there is an up side. Being an AB- makes you a universal recepient if you should require a blood transfusion. You could receive A, B or O type blood as long as it was Rh negative. In contrast, if your were an O- blood type (universal donor), you would only be able to receive O- blood, which is rare also. FYI, If you are Rh positive you can receive positive or negative type donors, if your blood type is negative you can only receive negative types.
As far as blood groups, or A,B,O's, an A can receive A or O, a B can receive B or O, an AB can receive A,B or O, and an O can only receive an O group donor.

It is the rarest blood type. I work at a blood center near Chicago. Only 1.6% of the population has AB negative blood. The most common types are A positive and O positive, which account for about 2/3 of the population.

AB negative is the rarest and anthropologically the newest blood type. AB as a whole only makes up 3% with AB neg being 0.05%. Though this does vary between countries and ethnic groups.

Yes, only 1% of the population has it! Type in the National Blood Service and you can read about it.
