In Irish tradition it is unluky for the bridal party to wear green. The reason behind that was it was believed that the color green attracted fairies and that they would inturn create mischief around the wedding, bride and bridal party or try to steal the bride away, as the bride is always beautiful and fairies love beautiful things. As for nowadays - no one will think twice about you wearing green. Actually, I am an Irish bride and while we are incorporating several old fashioned traditions this is not one of them. The colors we are using is Ivory and Apple Green. (I'm not too worried about the fairies!).

So wear green. It is a beautiful color!

Officially it is bad taste to upstage the bride - so no white. It is also "unlucky" in the catholic religion to wear black to a wedding (unless it is a black tie event). Green is fine (unless the bride for some strange reason is wearing green).

Anyone can wear green. If it was that unlucky, bridesmaids wouldn't even be allowed to wear it and it is a popular color. Even brides have been known to wear green. It's rare but it has happened without any bad luck coming to anyone. If you want to wear green, then do that.

I'm pretty sure that the only time you wouldn't want to wear green as a guest for the wedding, is if her bridesmaids are wearing green. they need to stand out. Other than that. as long as you are keeping with the formality of the event, green shouldn't matter.

I have never heard that one. I heard wearing black was a bad choice, but even that isn't true anymore. Wear whatever color you feel comfortable in. I have seen plenty of people wear green to weddings and nothing bad ever happened.

I bet most weddings performed this weekend will be draped in green because of St. Patrick's day☼

I believe that the green is only unlucky in Celtic culture. For some reason I also think it pertains only to the bride, but maybe you shouldn't take chances. ;)

The color green reminds me of new life in springtime. And they're starting their life together. So, why not? Maybe just not an ENTIRE green outfit. The only one who should stand out is the bride!

You can wear whatever color you want to a wedding except for white or cream or any colors that might look like you're "competing" with the bride.
