I didn't think so but then this happened to me.

Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.

While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.

Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.

I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.

I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.

I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.

Your brother

Don

Probably not in the proactive belief of a deity's existence.

There's simply no evidence for that. And the evolution of life on this planet through natural selection and movement from simple to complex things in our universe seems to suggest that the probability for the existence of an intelligent creator is very low.

Plus there's no real evidence that god would be a personal god invested in human affairs and interested in the outcome of our civilization, much less what we do in the bedroom. It's nauseating to see how religion condemn natural behaviors and kills innocent people over the small differences in belief. Religion has killed more people in our world than anything else.

That being said, should you still choose to believe in the existence of a deity, then go right ahead. I suppose that this belief might give one a sense of meaning or purpose to their finite existence should they be unable to find it through other means. And as long as you don't put it into government or attack scientific understanding, then I don't see a problem with it.

That's just my view, of course. You're free to come to your own.

Whether or not you believe in God as written in the Bible depends on whether or not you read with a truly open mind. If you have already decided that God does not exist, then you won't change your mind.

If you are truly seeking, then start reading the New Testament. I recommend the New King James Version as it is easier for modern readers than the traditional King James Version, unless you are familiar with middle English.

So far as groups of Christians go, there are many groups who claim to follow Jesus Christ, but few who keep His commands.

I've added a few websites for you to check out from Australia and the US. Drop me a line if you are in a different country and I'll do what I can to help.

If believing in God enhances your life, makes you feel supported, makes you feel happy, makes you feel loved, makes you feel like you belong to something bigger than yourself, makes you feel like you want to do good, to love, to promote peace, then you've found God. No one can make you believe it and no one can force it on you. It's a discovery that must come from within and it can come to you no matter what religion you were born into.
Finding God is a self discovery that allows for ones connection to the universe ONLY if one wants that connection and is ready to receive it. It's a very personal thing.

Yes there is. Everyone needs to have some kind of belief. It doesn't matter if it is in the Christian God, or another religion, each person needs to have Faith in order for their souls to grow and learn.
Without Faith in a divine being, a person becomes cynical and depressed and begins to lose the ability to function in society. They are deeply unhappy and have negative attitudes towards most everything in life because no Faith to rely upon when trouble happens. They have only themselves to rely upon, which quite often is not enough.

Yepper, yet i do not imagine God is a few desire granting old guy, individual, or creature sitting on a cloud in the sky. i imagine that's ineffective to call for stuff from God, even more beneficial stupid is to hate God basically because my existence sucks (my existence is blessed by ability of ways) or **** occurs. i do not reduce God to mythical being in the sky.

Experiencing god is much better than simply believing. Faith and hope can motivate you to continue living, but real contact with god and nature is a spiritual adventure--the only true game in town.

Believe of god as god is with you. You will not do something wrong before a powerful man. You will do something to please god.
This is a kind of enlightenment and of course there will be some questions behind.

If you want truth, believe in Jesus and discover his truth; it is different from the "truth" of men, which is actually untruth.
