Be prepared and stay diligent in your faith. You never know when the Lord will return. It's a metaphor -using a bride as the subject.

Without knowing the context or the source, I would say the lamp is symbolic of the spiritual light of the devine. Lamps are lit in the dark, so for you to see clearly though our times though they may be dark ( plagued with ignorance).

Loins, that is interesting. "Fruit of my loins"?Guard how you direct your energies. Your behaviour as a man must be respectful and you must use a mindful approach to how you carry yourself. You will be accountable for your actions.

Thought provoking.

Thank you Hannah, that was nice. Readyness!

There is light inside a man of light but if it is not light it is completely dark. If the lamp of the mind is on when the master returns he will find his way to you.

loins guarded... means exactly what it means! Much much trouble can be created if one does not guard them!

How many lamps do you see?

Yes, Luke 12:35. I believe that's "keep your loins girded." When work needed to be done, it was the practice of men to pull up their garments, securing them around the waist, which ended up girding the loin area so to speak.

This admonition is for true Christians to be at the work Christ assigned them – letting their light shine, making disciples. They were supposed to be about the master's work for when he returned, they would be called to account.

Those who lean unto there own understanding of scripture are leading others astray and blinded by their "pride!" But this has to occur for the Kingdom of God is coming to this earth and establish His way as the only way.

Pride is man's downfall. The End of the circle of man's self rule will be the beginning of Christ's Kingdom but that "pride" must be broken first!

Means keep busy in doing the Lords work Matthew 28:19,20 and continue acquiring knowledge (biblical) John 17:3, "everlasting life comes from taking knowlege of God and of his son, Jesus Christ."

Be vigilent and be ready, prepared. When He returns, it will be swiftly, without announcement, like a thief in the night, and then there will be no time to prepare.
