I went to a dermatologist (that, after meeting him I don't trust him too well) that gave me a 2 months suply of retin-a. I had really gone there to treat scars, but he said only a plastic surgeon can treat that.

Anyway, I only have ONE pimple on my face... just one. He said to put retin-a on every night and then use 10% benzyl peroxide (clean & clear) every morning.

I looked online to research retin-a and it says you should use it only once every other night and do NOT use any benzyl peroxide. Because it will irritated, dry your face and make it peel.

Why would he tell me to use it so much for just one pimple??? (which I had even told him, was the first one I'd had in months). All I wanted was to treat the red marks and scars and I thought thats what a dermatologist does?!?!

Trust your dermatologist. He's right. Retin-A not only treats pimples but clears dark spots and acne scars. I will tell you how it works. Retin-A is a vitamin A deriative that increases cell turnover. That is it helps remove dead skin cells or any old surface cells. Our skin is coverd in layers of cells. By removing the old cells faster, Retin-A actually allows newer younger skin cells to form. As more younger skin cells form, your scars and marks will eventually heal as the newer cells push its way upwards the layers. That is why with long use, Retin-A can prove to be an anti-ageing cream as well.

It works on pimples also because it helps removes the dead skin cells that block the pore which cause pimples.

Initially when you use Retin-A, your skin get irritated( like sunburn) or flaking but don't stop using it as it will get better as the days to come.

Use Retin-A at night only as it is sensitive to the sun. Don't use benzoyl peroxide with it because it can inactivate the Retin-A. You can use benzoyl peroxide anytime you are not using Retin-A that is when your skin is no longer irritated by Retin-A.

I am using it so I know. It is a miracle cream to me because I have been battling acne and this cream has help me a lot. I also realized that I have been getting fairer due to this product. Try it! It really works though you will probably notice the results in about 1 or 2 months.

I just got it on sat and I am excited to use it, I cannot wait to see the end results, I have used it before and it takes a while to work do not expect much within the first month, I use it with Johnson's tissue oil spf 15, it worked wonders for me in the past and I definitely trust. I have never use benzyl peroxide so I cannot comment much on it. actually I was using retin a cream when I took my display pic

you can apply it only on the scars of your pimple,if you think your face doesn't need to peel, don't use all over your face.or you can use other products that scrub gently your skin which can help to change the affected area with a new glowing skin after several use.redness is not really a problem if it's only the one you have on your face coz it also dissapper after few days.good luck!

Do not listen to him. I put benzyl peroxide on my face while using that and I thought I was gonna die. It burns like hell, I had to wash my face with Johnson's baby shampoo because it was the only thing that could help my skin not burn.
