Yes if it was more then a week ago I would say go ahead... as long as your dying with a color about the same or a little darker .dont go lighter as this might make your hair orange ...

With red undertones, I wouldn't suggest it. The ginger color may just return, or in fact be more intense. Home color kits are not trust worthy and if you attempt to use a lighter color, you can pull some really bad unwanted tones such as gold, or orange. Please save yourself the hassle and go to the salon asap....save the money up if you must, and listen to the other person who posted and get a good color shampoo to revive it until you can get there. I definelty understand trying to save money doing it at home, but if you have bad results you will end up spending more getting the salon to correct it because they charge more for that service as it is timely and requires a bit more skill as well. (Not to mention its annoying when people come in with messed up hair and then get mad when the stylist isn't pleased having to fix it) LOL

Yes you can, just choose a shade that's about 2 shades lighter than you want, but in the same color range. The reason for using a color that's 2 shades lighter is that it will come out darker than it looks on the box over previously dyed hair.

Yes, get a color shampoo rather than dye. I suppose you can get them in the local super market. Or a toner...do not use the dye itself for at least a week....it is too chemical!

Whatever you do don't dye it in the washing machine at the laundromat. They get very testy, and some even have signs posted. I have seen them.
