You shouldn't get angry at your parents. They are trying hard to work under budget. They would have love to give you pretty dresses and all the make up you want, if they can. No parent conciously want to make their child unhappy and not to provide them best. It must be more hurtful to your parents for not being able to provide you what you want - But they may be just hiding it and pulling a hard face, because they are not in a position to do that. First try to understand it.
Next, I understand how you feel, and I sympathize with you. But, all these dresses, make up, are so superficial. What really counts is your personality, your inner self. Future is something you build up on your own hands. Your determination has to be study very well, get good grades and get a good career. All these luxuries will be following you afterwards. You know what I mean?
I collect that you are still very young. When you grow up you'll probably turn back and reflect on that actually you achieved more in life, coz you have been poor earlier. What I am trying to say, coz of your current economic problem, you may become more ambious and achieve more in long run. Just be 10 times more determined and ambious than those girls you compare your self with. You have a bright future. Just understand your future is something you create for yourself. It's not a fixed destiny or anything, The choices you make today will shape up your tomorrow.
Don't compare yourself with others. You are a unique individual. And you are not defined by your clothes or make up. You are defined by your personality and achievements. If people just put you down coz of clothes and stuff, they probaly have a lot of growing up to do. And they really don't know how to identify a person for who he/she is. Pity them.
And remind your self your values and your goals and go forward.
Let me remind you once again, I know when you are a teenager clothes, make up matters so much, but they relatively aren't that important as much as a strong personality and a courageous inner-self. Rank your self high because you are courageous. Rank your self high because you are ambitious. Rank your self high because you are focused. Rank yourself high because you know what really matters in life. Keep your chin up, head high and go forward.

Your parents are likely emphasizing the fact that your family doesn't have much money to remind you that they can't afford to buy you all those pretty (unnecessary!) dresses that you apparently want.
There's nothing wrong with being poor. There's so reason to feel 'small' about it.
But there is a way to ensure that you aren't poor when you grow up, and it's call an education. Get one. Then you'll be able to get a decent paying job that will allow you to be able to afford all those pretty things that you want.

Money is going to be an on-going issue throughout your life. All money is is security. It won't make you happy, but no one wants the "black cloud" feeling of not having any. Everyone deserves some material possessions every once in awhile to keep yourself happy. That doesn't mean you have to go out shopping every day.
It doesn't help having your parents stress that they have no money, the best thing to do is be glad that you're growing up in a situation where you actually know the value of money.
If you really want to be rich, then you will be. You just have to try for it. Be glad that you are growing up poor so you can appreciate wealth later in life. You have to crawl through the **** to enjoy the sunshine.

it isnt right that they are yelling at you for this .. and i would hate it as well. there are other ways to tel lyou 'we cant afford it ' my parents do that as well but not to the point they scream at me .
although it is there fault for there job choices. unless they spent it all on a waste of something or on a gambling addiction.drugs. you know stuff like that which i hope not. maybe for your birthday all your friends will give you a nice dress =]
dont go to heaps expensive stores it will just become an addiction and a waste of money some of the clothers on those stores arnt good value..
i love cheap stuff haha cause i feel bad for spending my parents money so i buy cheap stuff like if somethings on sale im like HAHA and i go to the sales i got a really pretty dress for $10 and im sure theres some for even less if you look around you'll find some =D or try saving your meny up like if you find spare change around the house and if your mother gives you money to spend and wants the change back. take 10 cents every time and give her the rest and soon you'll have a heap of money =D i dunno i hope this helps you
good luck xx

Yes it is not pleasant being poor. It sounds like there is a bit of frustration that is going on in your family. I would not want to say that I would hate my parents until I have walked in their shoes. They may not know how this is affecting you. If you want to know what being poor is really about. Look to Nigeria and other parts of Africa and other countries who are dying because they have no food. So, you have more then what you think you have. You are having a hard time appreciating what you do have.

same here.... i guess parents always say that, huh? anyway, I got envy with girls that can afford too but I realized, I really don't need those things and I can absolutely live without them. there are more important things in life you know... envy is normal as long as you keep it in a minimum. want something that can glam you up in an instant? here:
1. smile is the best accessory ever! so don't go out of the house without it.
2. raise your head up high, be confident! you may envy them but that doesn't mean they have to know that.. :)
3. as I always say, it's all about the attitude baby! :) they may have the clothes, but as long as you have the right attitude, they lose to you, big time! :)
so, don't sweat it,ok? :)

Look, poor people may have bright future, but they have very less oppertunities. Have a glance of past and U'll find a lot of people with a wonderful status and a povety striken background. Just look for the ways to earn for urself and ur loved ones. Never be desparate. Never let urself, kill the hope in U

I agree with Jenivive, but there are other ways to look at not having a lot of money. If you have a lot of money then you pay more in taxes, you can't afford to get into a high car payment, a high dollar home, or expencive cloths. If you don't have much then you don't have to worry about having it taken away by theives, because they don't want what you have. You have to look at both sides of the picture. Talk to your parents about it. It may change your way of thinking.

If you focus on the things you "don't" have, instead of the things you "do" have, then you truly ARE poor. Count your blessings. Tons of people don't even have a computer, let alone access to the Internet. Do you have a roof over your head? Clothes to wear? Food to eat? A bed to sleep in? If so, then you better be thankful to your parents for making sure you have the necessities. Some kids have parents who do drugs, are alcoholics, and don't care about their kids. Be thankful!!

it sucks to be poor, but it's much worst to be poor and in trouble. you are lucky, you have family that loves you and gives you the right value of money. money can't be the reason for your happiness or your future. if you will take a decision to get what you want in life, you will. and let me add that being rich is not the top of fun in life. money brings many people into depression everyday. just having it is a problem, not to mention trying to keep it, or get more. be happy with your self, you are rich having family!
