the antifungals dont seem to do a great job. the itching is driving me crazy

Keep your foot dry as much as you can.
try other anti fungals.
choose genuine leather shoes only.
change your socks as frequent as you can.
use bleach when you wash your socks.you might also trying ironing them.

Try witch hazel. You can get it at any drug or grocery store and it's dirt cheap! Pour some over the area, let it dry, don't wipe it off. Do it twice a day. It usually gets rid of mine in two days. If it's bad, it may take a little longer. This is faster and a whole lot more effective than the expensive stuff.

Bath it in brown vinegar each morning and evening, then once it is dry use either talcum or Am-O-Lin liquid baby talc.

Tea Tree Oil is another natural anti-fungal.

properly drying feet then wet and putting baby power on them, i like to put it in my socks so its always there if that doesnt work by some athlets foot power that always works for me
