A friend of mine, recently applied for a canadian visitor's visa. - which cost him around Rs. 6000/- . Unfortunately his case was rejected. But he was shocked to know that the money paid was completely not refundable. Is this the same with other embassies too...or is it only particular to canada

when you need to pay a processing fee for visas to any country... it's completely non-refundable. the money was paid towards the processing of the visa... not the visa itself.

the US is the same too, if you want a specific country.

All processes fees that I am aware of are not refundable- primarily because you are paying for the processing of the application and not the outcome - the process often includes things that people do not think about such as the time and resources to do a security check or background check on references listed - this means phone calls, faxes and emails which has costs

Simply because the processing service was provided. The result of the processing is a totally different thing.
