Singulair (Montelukast) should be taken in the evenings because one of it's major side effects is fatigue. It's much easier to deal with at night when you're about to go to bed anyway, rather than trying to battle it during the day.

Also, the bronchodilation effects (opening of the airways) prevents asthma attacks and helps promote a more restful sleep, because you can breathe easier.

It doesn't however many allergist believe taking it at night, will help put the most medication in your system during the time when allergies are the worse, night time.

This is known as the therapeutic dose. The longer you go with out taking the medication, the less stays in your body. The body will slow down at night and this includes the body's ability to protect it's self from allergies and asthma.

The point is, its a 24 hour medication. You can take it any time you want. Try it at different times and see what you think about it. Then talk to your doctor about the time you choose to take it.
