Americans are willing to do the job, however they are not willing to do it for the diminished wage that illegals have caused...

NO! There are millions of Americans who are unemployed who would do most of the jobs that the illegals are doing, if the pay was adequate. Our welfare system, and unemployment system are too generous, which discourages Americans from going to where the jobs are. Also, we have millions of able-bodied men in prison who would be glad to do some of these jobs if they were paid.

Colorado passed a tough anti illegal alien law, which scared off both legal and illegal immigrants. They did not have enough workers to harvest the crops, so they are working to put prisoners to work. The prisoners would get a few dollars an hour and the prison system would get most of the prisoner's salary. This is a win-win situation for America! The prisoners get exercise, fresh air, money, and the pride of doing honest work, and the prison system gets much needed funds. The illegals lose though.

There ARE NOT ANY JOBS THAT AMERICANS WONT DO! Those are the very jobs that teenagers use to get introduced into the work force! I myself have been a CNA and even a dishwasher/food slicer. It is what people do to get by...maybe there would be more responsible teenagers if they got jobs like that.

That question is the very stereotypical cr*p that Bush spouts out that infuriates me. Oh, and I guess driving trucks and working in construction are jobs that these United States wont do too, along with nursing and masonry.

EDIT: Barb...maybe the big problem with the teenagers is the fact that we let them get away with too much (usually at the expense of our wallet)...kids only do what is expected of them. If you expect them to be lazy...well, guess what? They will be lazy. I HAD to earn my money when I was a teen, end of story!

If I needed a job, and my family was hungry, I'd do any job necessary to support them. I don't think that all Americans are so arrogant as to be "above" certain jobs. I've known plenty of people who were not able to find jobs, but were more than willing to do the work - any work.

EDIT: Look at the figures of unemployed Americans, and then look at the estimated numbers of illegal immigrants... they're almost the same!

I challenge you or anyone else to name a job that is 100% illegal alien!

Did you realize that in the meat packing plant raids 2/3 of the workers were either US Citizens or legal residents?

The "jobs Americans don't WANT to do" is a political con to decieve the American public.

The wages at the plants were around $20.00 per hour before the illegals invaded the meat packing plants. After the invasion the wages were around $10.00 per hour.

Even a child can see why the Republicans and big business want amnesty - to depress the wages of US legal workers!

Absolutely not! We have welfare rolls with able bodied people who should be told to take the job! You get "assistance" not a "handout" as some have come to believe!
We also have a huge prison population that all are not "violent" offenders and should be forced to work to pay for their incarceration!
I don't understand the whole concept on this issue? I grew up on a farm, we never ran out of work, and if you wanted a roof over your head and food in your stomach, you did your share of the work!
On the same token, we need to address our "capitalism" system and make the necessary changes to make it "work"!
No one in this day of age should be making $5-$6 an hour in the richest country in the world! We have to abolish GREED in all of it's forms!

No. There are Americans who are willing and able to the the kinds of work being done by illegal immigrants. However, in hiring legal American workers, employers would be forced to do things like paying them a decent wage, paying payroll taxes and unemployment and providing a safe work environment.

So, it's not so much that Americans won't do the jobs in question but that it's much easier and cheaper for employers to use illegal labor.

They should be able to work if they are over here legally. If they are illegal, which the vast majority are, we don't need them.

We have plenty of young folks in this country that could use these low skilled jobs.

not anymore. With all the factories and business shutting down and going to foreign
countries (like Mexico) all the Americans out of work can use these jobs. Maybe the illegals will go back to their country and go to work for these American companies.

Those jobs were once jobs that were considered rights of passage for teenagers so that they would realize they needed to take school seriously and study hard so that they would not spend the rest of their lives doing that kind of work and they would appreciate the value of a dollar.
