For the past month I feel like I am under water !!! I have tried ear drops that get rid of wax build up but they haven't worked. I am going to the docs next week, which will prob result in having my ears syringed (AH!)
Has anyone had this done and does it hurt??

have never had my own done but have syringed a lot of patients, it shouldnt hurt and is very effective at clearing wax. The ear drops you get from the chemist are pretty ineffective and some can make the problem worse, the best thing to do is put a few drops of olive oil into each ear twice a day , do not put cotton wool in as this will just soak up the oil. The doctors will not syringe your ears until you have been using olive oil for 14 days, and this can occassionally even clear the wax without the need for syringing. Good luck

I had it done a few months ago, kept getting water stuck in my ear after swimming, it does not hurt and works almost immediately and then just keeps getting better for the next ten minutes to Crystal clear hearing.

They use a warm solution and spray this into your ear and then a small electric pump draws it out with the build up off wax.

Nothing to worry about, although you will have to make a appointment with a nurse for it to be done.

I love getting my ears done. I have to get it done every couple of years and it feels great when you are getting it done and even better after it is done. Don't be nervous as it is a pleasant feeling and does not hurt at all. You should see the size of some of the bits of wax they get out my ears it looks like big slugs. The nurse told me she has never seen as much wax come out of anyones ears like the stuff that comes out of mine. I look forward to having it done and I am due to have it done again this year so I cant wait. Enjoy yourself next week I wish it was me.

I had my ears syringed last week and I can tell you i was dreading it...I was worrying unnecessary because it was pleasant and very quick. You will have a little bit of tepid water whooshed into your ear and the wax comes out without you even realising it.You will hardly feel a thing and you will have you're hearing restored immediately.

When i had my ears done, they used this machine that shoots short bursts of fluid into your ear, it's quite a pleasant sensation, so you don't have to worry. They used to use a large syringe filled with warm water. the machine method is far better though.

i had it done a few times, it doesnt hurt but it is quite uncomfortable, but it only lasts 30 seconds each ear and you feel like you have bionic hearing when you come out, go for it, you will be fine !

No. Not painful at all. is a nice sensation. Had mine done once - went in deaf, came out and could hear birds tweeting, the change in my pocket jingling when I walked...like a miracle. Really.

Ear syringing is painless. However you may be describing catarrh rather than ear wax.

It is very noisy. I did not find it painful but the first 20 seconds was a bit unnerving. It is a lot better than getting your sinuses flushed.
