Hello Sandhya madam,
If you from south India then I would suggest you to read an article in the Hindu about this a week or so back. It is not advisable to physically control a child. You can study his behavioural pattern and meet a child specialist or psychologist if you feel there is something wrong with him. By the way if possible do write to me as I think I know your husband, as your surname is familiar to me, do write to me. Bye...

Personally, I spank. However, for class work? I don't think so. I have a 13 year old who does the same, she's very mild mannered. You as a parent must communicate with the teacher. Have the teacher email you his homework, what they did in class, and even his behavior. At this age it's up to you to do the homework with him until he can learn to understand the importance on his own.
Now my 13 year old, is a little different. I didn't have this problem when she was younger. Currently, she is coming into her own identity; friends, independence, self-expression...So, her interest have changed. My strategy as a parent is to make whatever is and will be important in their life, just as important to them today. How? That is according to each child's individual value. Find out what makes him excited, comfortable, at peace,...build from there.

NO NEVER. Is it ok to beat you because you're not earning good money or not cooking tasty enough every day?

People should talk to children and know their problem. Obviously overloading a child with too much of home work will result in children missing the home work. Home work should be bare minimum so that children get time to enjoy their child hood with love from parents and experience of interaction with relatives and real world and some extra curricular activities. Its almost rubbish if the school/teacher sends the students back home with too much of home work. Its the problem with education system in india as a whole than children being lazy.

Also when sending children for 10 days leave, schools usually ask them to complete all the 5 exam papers with answers. For what? to ruine the precious time they get to itneract with real world and learn and enjoy their child hood and cherish with thie parents?

I as a parent will never send my child to a school which gives too much of home work. Schools are to teach amnd educate children not to beat them and ruine their life and mental state so that they become useless at the end.

Love always works not matter what, especially with children. You as a parent should discover new ways to make your child interested in a subject by being creative parent/teacher.

Yes of-course, beating is the normal punishment (with thin stick below waist) not for completing the class work, but for disobeying. Because, children are not having the long vision of idea of the class works - why and how. But, If class work is too much in quantum, then giving extension of time is recommended.

What do you mean by beat? Sounds a bit harsh. If the child is not doing work out of defience, than a spanking seems appropriate. But if the child just doesn't get it, and doesn't do the work because he/she can't, than beating will result in far worse consequences. Try to discern the root of the problem, but treat the child with love. Spankings can be given in love. Proverbs says if you spare the rod, you hate the child. I know I needed and benefited from spankings.

Beating is never a good punishment. This child is seven years old. Find another way. Talk to the child's Thacher for help on getting them to complete the work. Oh yeah do you work with your child on their homework, or do you like to loom and criticize.

No it's not it's child abuse! You will just have to talk to him and teacher and see if you can't work out something. But don't beat him, he's just a child and his mind isn't always on class work. He should come out of this on his own, he's only 7.

No it it not correct to beat a 7 yrs child. Corporal punishments are against rules

No, it is never "okay" to ever "beat" a child, at any age, let alone 7. He won't understand why or what the punishment is for, and causing him injury isn't going to make him do any better at school.
