Ojala pudiera hablar español.

Nraf is 100% right. btw, translated word for word: Ojala comes from the arabic O Allah... and it is often used to express desire. like i wish. pudiera is from poder which means can. hablar is speak and espanol... well... duh.

The genius that said me quiero is so wrong. That means I want myself to speak spanish. I guess that's kind of I wish I could, but not exactly.

Aloha from Down Unda!

1st, it's too much trouble to turn question marks or exclaimation marks up side down!

2nd, it too easy to pick up another language, should you desire, through a multitude of options.

3d, 'No Hablo Espanole' simply indicates I don't speak Spanish, but if I really wanted to speak Spanish, I'd learn! I don't wanna so I merely know, "No Hablo Espanole"!

"I wish i could speak Spanish." =
"Lamento que yo no pudiera decir el español." according to

Nraf is right, and perhaps Graham as well the only difference is Nraf is saying "I wish I could speak Spanish" (which is the literal translation of your question) and Graham is saying "I wish I knew how to speak Spanish".

Me quiero hablar espanol. (Literally "I want to speak Spanish" or "I would like to speak Spanish."

OK, I can't speak Spanish, but nobody else had answered the question.
