if you left the country 5 years ago without paying off your credit card, how long before your debt is being erased????

thanks Mariposa. The credit card bill was in SC and as we are in France we don't know if they took us to court

It would depend on which country. In the US, it would depend on which state. The statute of limitations vary by state. A bankruptcy will stay on the credit report for 10 years and collections for 7 years, but each state has a different length of time that the creditor can sue you. If the creditor took you to court and you did not appear, the item will stay on your report for 7 years since the judgement.

get a copy of your credit report and it takes 7 years after u have paid your bills in full..
