you can always try AVG i have used their software for 4 years and love it
quoted from their site:
New Free Anti-Virus
GRISOFT is announcing a new version of the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. This new 7.5 version with improved performance and full compatibility with the latest Windows Vista version is available. Users that are using AVG Free 7.1 will be provided with a specific dialog, within the next few weeks, with the opportunity to choose the right option fulfilling their needs.

I've installed AVG Free for a friend on the family Vista PC.
Just checked it, using LogMeIn and it has been doing daily AV scan since s/w was installed about 5 weeks ago (early February) and friend has not mentioned any problems with it on the Vista (+2x Win XP machines)

Before taking random suggestions like Comodo
Take advice from http://www.av-comparatives.org/
Then pick NOD32, its only a trial though.
Best long term one would be Grisoft AVG 7.5 Free Edition
Both I have used with Vista.
