I just bought a big screen TV and a home theatre system. The home theater system came with a DVD player that acts as the main processor for the system. Basically, everything dealing with the audio needs to go through there and into the speakers. The problem is that my TV does not have a composit audio out, only the ports for the speaker wires (the TV came with a big speaker that attaches at the bottem and connects to the back of the TV via the speaker wires.) So because of this I cannot make my Audio from the Television, Playstation 3 or Ipod come out of the home theater system speakers, only the one TV speaker. I need a cable that will have the little speaker wires on one end and the AV composite cables on the other so I can listen to everything through the speakers. If you know the name of what i am looking for please help me, I dont seem to be explaining it right to the people at the stores. Thanks

Okay, if you have to use your TV for sound then splice the speaker wire from the TV with longer speaker cables for external speakers. Make sure your speakers can be driven by so little watts (~10 watts) or you may damage the speakers as well as the TVs audio amplifier.
If that's not what you're asking, then perhaps you should just use a surround sound audio receiver to drive your home theater speakers. To do this connect RCA cables from your TV's audio out to your receiver's audio in, and connect your DVD player's audio out to the receiver's audio in, and the DVD player's video out to your TV's video in. If you have an HDTV, then it should have at least component video, and if this is the case, then connect the CV cables from the DVD player to your HDTV.
If you need more help, send me an e-mail (tell me the model of your TV and your home theater) and we'll take it from there.

Radio Shack probably has what you need, or you can make it up out of old cables. (They're called "RCA plugs or cables")
RS used to have (and prob. still does) the cable ends you need to plug into the HT system. Solder a piece of speaker wire to the cable end, and strip the other ends, and voila.
Or cut one end off a cable and strip the wires. Note: you will probably find them layered thus: outer insulation, small wire filaments, inner insulation, small wire filaments. Using this method, strip back the outer insulation a couple inches; pull the first layer of wire filaments away from the inner insulation, and twist them together like closing the twist-tie on a bag of bread; strip the inner insulation about half as far as you did the outer; twist the inner group of wires together. During installation, don't let the two sets of wire touch each other; it won't cause damage, but you won't hear anything either.

If you REALLY want to turn speaker wires into RCA cables, you'll need a "LINE CONVERTER"...You can get them at the CAR AUDIO stores for about $10...But here's a link to one for Home Theater...It's expensive...Click right here: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=302-307
But you might consider trying the advice of these other guys...It sounds like some of their suggestions might work...And it'll cost less and give you much better sound than using a "line converter".

no, sorry, stereo wires are not digital and that is what you need
you should get a cable box and have the opitcal run in to the back of the DVD player, if that is what is running you speakers
I think that you have a combo DVD and reciver, if that is true, just hook up all of the audio cables in the back of that
if not return it, it is worthless if it doesnt have inputs for other items, like PS3 or ipod

Your TV should have a digital audio output (optical or coax).
Your HTS should have a digital audio in - hopefully one that matches your TV. If it does not have any RCA audio inputs or a digital audio input, then it is not very useful for anything else except watching DVD movies.

i'm afraid agb.. is nice. you won't be able to improve or upload an adapter to run HD via that restricted Bose equipment. Bose is marketed to the elderly or techno-phobic with the concept that they do no longer opt to be afflicted with such issues as ideas, spare inputs wires or perhaps comments. it extremely is the down-area to a turn-key equipment like Bose - no flexibility. so some distance as i be conscious of, we've had HDTV for decades and BluRay gained the format conflict 2 years in the past - yet no products from Bose help BluRay, HDTV or HDMI.
