Survival, usually they come from countries where the conditions of living are so poor and they are desperate to make a better life for themselves and family especially when the media paints the West as flawless in comparison to third world countries.
I think it is wrong for people to travel to another country illegally because it suggest that you have no respect for the country. How can such immigrants live in peace when they'd always have to look over their shoulder plus what kind of values will such people be passing on to their children.

Migrations of populations have occured throughout history. The current massive population movements are basically due to the 2nd globalization where goods, capital, infornation and labor are globally in motion, legally and illegally.

Because it is almost impossible to them to meet all the requirements to go to other countries legally.
Some Serbian friends were denied the entrance to another country 4 times (they are not criminal people, just wanted to survive due to the poor conditions in their country), so they opted sadly to immigrate illegaly.
They tried the legal way, but the government had their right (questionable for me) to denied them that opportunity, while they give the right to enter LEGALY to other people (for example the terrorists of Sep 11 attack -they had visas- who only were here to destroy us)

Because we allow it. If I were an illegal alien, hell, I'd want to come here and bring my whole family and get a decent paying job, never have to learn the speak the language and expect the rest of us English speaking Americans to take college courses so that we can communicate, drive the crime rate up, have a milllion kids, get free health care, and expect protection under the Constitution, and yet expect us to change the fundamental and Christian beliefs that this country was founded on because they don't share those beliefs.
Its our own damn fault for allowing this. There is a city called Hazelton in PA that is finally trying to put an end to illegal aliens within its city limits that imposes fine on businesses that employ them, and landlords who rent to them. I think that's a step in the right direction and they are coming under attack because of this. I think we ought to follow Hazelton's lead...

Because their preferred methods of immigration are deemed to be illegal by the previous host country or the new host country or both of the countries.

To make a better life for their families. Other countries like Mexico, don't have good paying jobs like we do here in America, therefore it is hard for people to make a living there. They risk their lives to come here and support their families. That's more than I can say for most Americans!

Lack of respect for the law. No self respect. Selfishness. Their own country don't want them. Human trash.
