This was in the 40th year of King Saul's reign. A powerful army of Philistines had come up against Saul's israelite army, and he was very much afraid. Saul knew God's law: "Do not turn yourselves to the spirit mediums, and do not consult professional foretellers of events, so as to become unclean by them." In time, however, Saul turned away from God. Therefore Samuel, who at the time was alive, refused any longer to see Saul. And now, in this time of trouble,King Saul was desperate because God would not listen to his calls for help. Saul was so eager to learn about what was going to happen that he went to a spirit medium in En-dor

Major league lies there punt... I have never seen the truth so badly distorted on here.
The asker's question: The incident with the "witch at Endor" is just one of Saul's MANY indiscretions. That God seems to have used her is not that strange, remember, he even used a donkey as a prophet. God will use anything or anyone he chooses to deliver his message. That the witch recognized Saul through his disguise indicates to me that the whole thing was true, even though it violates God's law:
Deuteronomy 18:10 Here are things you must not do. Don’t sacrifice your children in the fire to other gods. Don’t practice any kind of evil magic at all. Don’t use magic to try to explain the meaning of warnings in the sky or of any other signs. Don’t take part in worshiping evil powers. 11 Don’t put a spell on anyone. Don’t get messages from those who have died. Don’t talk to the spirits of the dead. Don’t get advice from the dead.
Punt...
Apocrypha: MEANS "things which had been hidden." It was sometimes used to indicate that the writings lacked authority, but that was not its meaning. These are books and passages which were added to the Old Testament by the catholic church. They were NEVER considered AUTHORITATIVE by the Jews or Jewish Christians. The Jews accepted that the historic books were accurate, but refused to place them on the same level as the HEBREW scriptures.
1John 5:7... Here we have a passage that was COMPLETELY UNKNOWN BEFORE THE 14TH CENTURY. It is NOT AUTHENTIC, PERIOD. This was added very late and NO TRUE scholarship supports its inclusion...
It is NOT IN ANY Greek manuscript before the 14th century.
It is NOT IN ANY Latin translation manuscript before the 14th century.
It is NOT IN ANY of the other translations made before the 14th century - Coptic, Syrian, ...
Your 50,000 errors statement involves the so-called King James Bible. This is a gravely inferior translation, containing several hundred SIGNIFICANT, DELIBERATE ERRORS. Add to that the fact that the language is almost 400 years old and you have a recipe for a worthless document.
If you are going to criticize the Bible, at least do it from a TRUE REPRESENTATION of the original language texts, NOT thie kjv.

that was an optical illusion. Have you read the part in the Gospel which tells about the appearance of Moses and Elijah with Jesus the Christ and St. Peter saw them, three?

if you are agnostic, why bother with the Bible? I don't think you are agnostic. I think you are someone searching for truth and meaning in life and Jesus will give you that. Just keep studying the Bible.

You want truth, seek YAHWEH, YHWH. Then the truth will come to you. For He is in the Quran and Bible, His name is used almost 7000 times, 3 more than Elohim.

Seventh Day Adventists and Jehovah's Witnesses.
First Roman Catholic Bible was published at Rheims in 1582.
Second one published at Douay in 1609.
These called RCV version of Bible.
The Protestants regarded 7 books as ‘apocrypha’ (doubtful authority) and removed them from Bible.
(The Book of Judith
The Book of Tobias
The Book of Baruch
The Buck of Esther, etc. )
Jesus pbuh said in the book of Revelation Chapter 22 Verse 18-19 ". . . If any man shall add to these things (or delete) God shall add unto him the plagues written in this Book."
