I got this in the mail this morning:

"I hope your IT job doesn't send you straight to hell with your thinking. [...] The analytical worldy [sic] minds are going to perish. [...] I am protected and you are too blind to realize until God stops lookuing [sic] out for you. I am protected from all things. You will go down. But the thing is, all of us will bow down to the Lord one day. I just pray that you will find the truth before then."

Should I stop thinking, then? Does anybody else notice the extreme arrogance and stupidity displayed in this mail?

Oh, and for christians asking why 'I will pray' for you is sometimes offensive, this is a prime example. Telling me I am blind and will go to hell and then saying "I will pray for you" is not nice.

How come I never get hate mail?? Is it my avatar?? Do I need to get like a cartoon avatar or something?? Why don't they hate me?? Oh sure it's nice to come to work and open my email and only have messages from people who think I'm funny and a best answer every now and again but really I'm starting to feel left out!! Will you pose as a christian and send me hate mail?

There is a British expression which says "What a load of cobblers!"
Interesting origin. It comes from the East End of London, where the locals developed a rhyming slang (Try googling rhyming slang - it's most entertaining!)
So, 'apples and pears' means 'stairs'. 'Bread and honey' = money (hence the more popular useage of 'bread' for money. Cobblers' Awls (you know what an awl is, right? was the euphemism for 'Balls'. I shan't tell you what 'Grumble and Grunt' means.
So, what a load of cobblers!!! The silly grumble.
Please, acid - do not stop thinking. It is that which separates us from the lesser mammals, including this person.
Arrogance - yes. Stupidity - yes. Applies to all out there who believe that a god is the answer to everything.
Don't pray for us, gullible morons. It is a waste of your time. Do something more constructive. Read more. Ask sensible questions that have answers other than "God made it" or similar.
Reality is on the near horizon but so many can't see it and don't want to see it. A great shame that this blight on the human race, religion, is perpetuated.
Stop it!!!

No that isn't nice. It is the ultimate slap in the face to say that (I may say I'll pray for you, but it's usually preceded by "I'm so sorry for your loss" not "You are going to hell.") And if analytical brains are going to perish then we are both in a lot of trouble (not to mention I think God is happier to see thoughtful followers who can spell 'looking'). And the arrogance . . . "I am protected from all things. You will go down?" I don't talk to Christians like that. They just infuriate me and make other people hate us and mock us and make my job of showing that some of us are reasonable and thoughtful and not freaking nutjobs harder.

I was just wondering though. You got this in snail-mail? Or did this person brave the fires of hell to fire off an email?

Arggh, I don't want to look at that anymore. I'm trying to eat. Stop trying to make my head explode.

Hey, I have an IT job... what does that mean?

Extreme arrogance. Bad grammar and spelling too. I would never tell someone who does not accept my religion that I was praying for them. We don't have to agree, but I won't insult you if you don't agree with me. Telling an atheist you're praying for them has the same effect as an atheist telling a theist there is no God.

Well you are obviously dealing here with an open minded educated person. The force of his words is overwhelming. The lord takes care of everything. So do not worry. Reminds me of something that Victor Hugo said. There is in every village a torch-the teacher:
and an extinguisher-the clergyman.

That person is not a true Christian, just a hate-filled person who wants to upset others to make themselves feel better. Don't think that all Christians feel or behave like this because we don't. I know the positive things God has given me and I would wish the same for you and all people. But you still have to follow your own path.

Try to ignore people like this, I know it is hard, but you should recognise that they are disturbed in their minds and they deserve your pity.

I had a wise friend who once asked "what do you get when you take a disturbed person and they become a spirit filled christian?" the answer is in most cases " a Spirit-filled disturbed person".

Just because a person is born again and attempting to follow Jesus does not ordain them to know everything about God or make them wise.

Whether this person is a Christian or not is beside the point. They clearly have some very severe mental health issues. Let's hope that whoever it is doesn't work in air-traffic control.

I have never heard of a job sending someone straight to hell. I have heard that some jobs are akin to being in hell.

What is sad is that there are some people out there that really feel you are not entitled to your right to independent thought just because it differs from theirs.

Bright Blessings )O(

You having an IT job has got nothing to do with whether or not you end up in Heaven or Hell...it's all about repentance and accepting Jesus, and NOT about your job. That person doesn't know what they're talking about!
