It's the ministers I am speaking of.
Should they even be allowed to teach?

Many are poor & uneducated, simply spreading hand-me-down fundy propaganda like fast moving viruses of mental decay.

Thinking seems to be discouraged, just wait for GOD to move. Doncha feel God? Halelluiah!

Oh, and watch it brother! God is sending you to hell. SO YOU BETTER BE AFRAID or I will hmm, bonk you over the head with a Bible if you don't?

How will I teach my meaningless mumbo jumbo if no-one is afraid of it?

Bible speaks of the blind leading the blind & they both fall in the ditch. No wonder churches everywhere are being deserted, as uneducated (blind) ministers are fleecing the flock with fear of God.

I forget why we even need religion...
Do we need to get saved from being imperfect (sinners)?

Why don't you go & be perfect like God demands in Mathew ("Be ye perfect even as your father in heaven..., etc")

Do it now, sinners. God doesn't ask, he commands.
Imperfection is my fault? How?

I agree that it is pretty damn frightening. Especially the anti-evolution and apocalypse groups that seem to be fighting for inclusion in public education and the world stage. These are small movements in the U.S., but take a look at fundamentalist Islam and the perspective is even more scary.

In my opinion, irrationality and religious fundamentalism threaten human civilization and long term survival as much as nuclear proliferation, not to mention social and technological advancement (stem cell research, anyone?).

In a democracy, all must be afforded equal rights, so the best thing that we can do is to educate the young. Hopefully, future generations will not be preyed upon by similar ignorance.

Frustrating, isn't it? And then you get the majority saying their ministers aren't like that. And they personally don't do that... yet they parrot their ministers and never really look at what they are doing and why. They just have this insatiable need to pound on others as they have had it pounded into them.

Personally, I don't believe in that God... the image his people give him is less attractive than some of the worst Pagan Gods. Though, I have yet seen any other Gods say "I love you unconditionally and if you don't believe that, I'm going to torture you for eternity."

There is nothing wrong in what they are doing provided the can really preach the words of God in the bible. Maybe they were taught by their ministers about the things and words which they are teaching. They are under the guidance of the pastor.

. However, you should be very careful bout joining the group of religion, Investigate it very well if they are cult or not.

Was this a tirade or a question?

Most of the pastors I've met have been VERY well educated, and have only mentioned hell briefly, in passing. Our pastor in South Carolina mentioned hell once, in two years. The pastor at the church I attend now has only mentioned it once in the last six months, and he only mentioned it briefly.

A lot of education is necessary for a person to become a pastor or a minister. Most of them don't tell us to be afraid; they teach about God's LOVE.

The premise of your "question" is false, therefore unanswerable.

It sounds like you are one step away from getting a Christian education to become the only pastor spreading educated truth. Sounds like God is leading you in that direction as you are not satisfied with the luke warm biblical teaching around you. You have a heart that is fully seeking after the truth and God. But who will teach you as I am sure religious professors are fools before your inquiries. Don't get a divorce from God because you are mad at someone else. I divorced my wife because my boss sucks at being a boss. I divorced God because pastors weren't speaking rightly of him. Nonsense. I Seek your answers from God himself not here. And don't belittle people who do honestly seek God. A sinner is imperfect as in incomplete. We are created to live in relationship with him and when we don't, when we kick God to the curb, we are living an incomplete existence.
How many times have I heard, "I had a bad experience at a church once and so I will never go to church again." What if we had that approach to work! I had a bad experience at work and so I will never work again! Go to another church, get another job, whatever.
