If you wear them way too long, don't wash your hands before inserting them, or don't clean them with the correct solution each and every time, and for as long as directed, then yes, you can develop an infection. Just be careful, follow your doc's instructions, and you'll be fine.

Although contact lenses themselves may not be the immediate cause of infection, infections can result from wearing contact lenses. Reactions to cleaning or storage solutions, dry eyes, torn lenses and debris on the lenses can all make the eye more susceptible to infection. In many of these cases, taking care of the contact lenses properly can greatly reduce the risk of infection. Other methods of minimizing the potential for infections include regular eye examinations and following the eye doctors lens care recommendations carefully.

Yes. I'll explain further.

Proper fitting contact lenses is important to your eye health and comfort. With improperly fitted contact lenses, you will have irritated eyes at the very least. Irritation of the eye can also be from your contact lens drying out.

Eye contact wearers do have a higher rate of 'Pinkeye' (Conjunctivitis) or other type(s) of infections.

When the color contacts were very popular, more than a few teens took them out and traded them like a regular piece of fashion jewelry and/or accessory item. (What happened to proper fitment? and proper disinfection/ cleaning procedures?) This lead a few to get infections.

In my opinion, people do get lazy after getting their contact lenses and tend to shortcut the daily cleaning routines/ procedures. This is where the danger lies and is the start of opening the door to infections. There are some infections that may cause scarring and therefore leave you blind.
*daily cleaning tip. Use the 'rub & rinse' method to clean your contact lenses. This is better than relying on the 'no rub' chemical method which leaves more daily buildup.
*do change your contact lens at their regular intervals. If they are a 2-week contact lens (the most popular), then please change after 2 weeks. I personally would take the time to take it out and clean/ disinfect them. Your eyes will thank you.

If you do suspect an infection (symptoms , discontinue use of your contact lenses immediately and consult your eye doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

they're dazzling!! My prescript. is -10.00, and that i hated donning my glasses at nighttime. those are a life saver. the only concern is they get dry at nighttime so I save a bottle of drops by employing my mattress, and that they are perplexing to get rid of. I wash them as quickly as a week. it fairly is like getting Lasik devoid of the surgical treatment. i'm so happy with those lenses. Mine fee purely $198 from Sears, they matched the only right on line fee, plus I have been given a $a hundred rebate so purely $ninety 8 for the two eyes jointly for a whole 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. stable luck!

Yes you can, I wore mine for over a year without taking them out, and I had very bad scratches on my corneas, needless to say my vision is worse now than it was then. Your eyes need to breath, and you encounter pollutants all day, warm, damp place like your eyes is a perfect place to breed infection. It's not worth it, I wear glasses now.
