On the 25th of December it is bitterly cold in jerrusulem. Yet it states that the shepards were out at night watching their flocks...wouldent their flocks be in some kind of shelter at that time of year? So it stands to reason that if their was a christ, he wwas not born at that time of year or the stories surrounding his birth are false ...which is it?

You also have to take into account that Mary and Joseph were traveling to be counted in the census which happens in the Summer. So no, Jesus was not born on December 25th. The Church hijacked that date for the holiday because it was easier to convert Pagans to worshiping the birth of the son of God from their worship of the rebirth of the Sun God at the Winter Solstice.

But then again that wouldn't be the only Pagan holiday that the Christian Church hijacked for their own.

Blessed Be )O(

No. based on the outline of the climate, the configuration of the celebrities, and countless different factors-it extremely is extra probable that Jesus replaced into born sometime in October. The party that we take part in on December 25 replaced into began previously by pagans, in observance of the birthday of a God called Mithras. Nowhere in the Bible does it say whilst Jesus' birthday is. hundreds of thousands of Christians are duped each and every 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, and don't even make an effort to learn what it extremely is they are emptying their wallets for. by all skill-permit's all circulate max out the credit taking part in cards in God's call.......it is ridiculous what people will do in basic terms because of the fact each and every person else does.

the Roman Catholic Church, early in the faith's infancy, realized that the pagan festival celebrating the birth of the God Mithras would invite many of their recent converts to celebrate a pagan festival. Mithras' birthday was December 25th. So in order to keep ppl from celebrating a heathen festival, they appointed Dec 25th as the day Christ was born. Astronomical calculations taken using cues from the Bible account, i.e. "shepards were keeping watch over their flocks by night" were used to give the actual probable date of Jesus' birth. April 17th.

So far as can be guessed, this was not the birthday of Mary and Joseph's son. Rather, it was a handy way for the early church in Northern Europe to mark his advent because, at that time, those of the Celtic, Druidic beliefs held their winter festivals of rebirth, renewal, fertility etc. That is why so many aspects and symbols of the Old Religions are still extant: Mistletoe, Holly, Ivy, Evergreen,Yule. These were all sacred to them. It is believed that Jesus would have been born late January, but even that is far from certain.

Considering the change of calendars since the time, many believe that he was probably more likely born closer to October 25th by today's standards. But the religion chose it's holy days in essence to cover up Pagan days.

Ex:
December 25 = Christian Christmas
December 21 = Wiccan Yule

Let's clear a few things up.
The idea of Jesus being born on the 25th December was a later tradition by the church,it's not written in the Gospels, and thus cannot be used against Chrisitanity. The Gospels are not false, and neither are the true accounts of Jesus' birth, which do not mention anything about that certain date.

well actually Jesus was born sometime in the summer. the people where already celebrating a pagan holiday called Yule, which involved presents, a pine tree, and a star on top of it. the town elders where converting everyone to christianity but they didn't want to get rid of Yule since it was the most joyous and fun holiday, so they changed the meaning of it from celebrating the winter solstice, to celebrating the birth of Jesus.

By the way, I like ur SN picture, my mom has the same painting in her room. Just wanted to let u know :)

25th of December was never Christ's birthday and no one says it was. It is the date that we celebrate his birth. I think it's a good time to have it, we need something to look forward to during a cold winter.

The use of the 25th of December as Christmas was to hijack pagan holy days. It has been calculated that h was probably born in March.

No one knows the very day Jesus was born, That is the day science came up with we don't know the very day Jesus rose from death either but we still celebrate Easter.
We may not know the very day, but there's nothing wrong in celebrating it and having a day to remembering it.
