it is obviously not healthy because as we sleep our body repairs itself and restores the energy that is needed for the next day, also while we are sleeping the disks between our vertebrae fill up with fluid to take the pressure off of the vertebrae itself for the next day, when we do not get enough sleep the disks dont fill up properly and the physical activity the next day causes back pain. sometimes insomnia can be caused because of what you do in bed, for example do not read, write, or do any type of work in bed. your bed and bedroom preferably should be for sleeping only. if you do work in bed your brain starts to associate the bed with work and so when you get in bed your brain goes to work instead of going into resting mode. you should also try some lifestyle changes. try relaxing, unwinding about an hour before going to bed. also stress causes insomnia and so if your stress levels are too high you should try doing things such as yoga, running, swimming, etc. work the stress off dont hold onto to it, that's unhealthy. i hope this helps.

I am sure it is not good for your health but under a lot of circumstances many of us can't sleep. Example-Trauma.
The country is full of people with sleeping disorders. I think it was TV and Computers that ruined peoples sleeping habits. Before electricity there was little reason to stay up late. If our biological clock is set by light no wonder we are in such a mess.
I am as bad or worse than anyone. I can sit down to write and it can be way into the next day before I become aware of time. A lot of people have told me that once they really get into something that they are really interested in, they totally lose track of time. It is a almost like you enter another dimension. Like that old saying goes "time flies when you are having fun.'
But we shouldn't do it too often or our body will get all messed up trying to figure what is going on.

I used to work in night shift. I had a colleague who don't sleep on his first day of work. So this guy had stayed up 24 hours at the end of his first night. Sometimes, he went out after night shift instead of going home to sleeping.
After 10 over years of such routine, I found him unable to think straight. Very emotion. Health is poor and often subjected to ulcers.

its not unhealthy
im the same, im in highschool but got expelled (broke into my caffeteria and stole food with my buddies hahah) so now im in homeskewl its really easy and i am up some days for 2 days in a row sumtimes only half days
i saw a doctor recently and he said i was fine
of course i dont think its so beneficial to my life, bcuz i wake up late and miss out on fun things with my friends, or occasionally miss band practices and its just not the best way to live ur life
if u want to fix it, id say stay up one hour later every night, and wake up one hour later every morning and in a week or so u shoudl have normal sleeping habbits again

it can be argued that once your body stops growing you need less sleep.
I don't think you need to worry, because you will sleep when you need to.
