Yes I do . although the damage would be already done and killing the person who caused it wont change anything , it is important to in force death penalty so that these people can set an example for whoever is thinking about doing the same thing . And also to prevent this specific individual from causing more harm to society . if death penalty didn't exist ( I know it doesn't in some places but where I live in it does ) then crime rates would be much much higher .

If the death penalty worked to actually deter crimee, then those countries vindictive enough to use it would have very low crime. However, how many criminals consider the death penalty before they do a crime? Could it be almost zero? Criminals do not plan on getting caught so why would they think of the punishment. The death penalty is useful only as a way to make the public think that justice is being done by the state. The victims of serious crime such as murder do not feel any better once the crim is dead because their loved one will not suddenly return. Nor will crims suddenly respect society who tell them it is wrong to kill and then hear about that same society doing just that- killing to teach people not to kill. How ludicrous! You only have to look at the botched hanging of Saddam (god how do you spell it?). The idiots who are supposed to be the good guys almost decapitated him and produced a martyr at the same time. Then of course there are all the poor people who have been killed and then found to be innocent. Surely a modern society like America can do better than a backward country like Indonesia. Oh hang on...I forgot...Guantanamo Bay!

Yes. Especially in the case of these child murderers and rapists. Anyone that harms an innocent, defensless, helpless child has no value to society and cannot be rehabilitated. Some say that the death penalty does not deter crime. I don't know, I have never read any studies on that, but I DO know for sure that by executing some of these perverts, there will at least be one LESS scum walking the earth.

When I was young and full of testosterone, I supported it. Then, I mellowed to the point that I didn't any more. Now, well into middle age, I am back in favor of it. The reason: there is an explosion in needless and horrific violent crime. And the message needs to be sent to the idiots doing all the drive bys. They are terrorists, sans philosophical underpinnings: Morons with guns. For intelligent people, the death penalty is barbaric. For the stupid neanderthals who deserve it, they aren't even up to that level of civilization yet.

No, for two reasons :
1. We can't give life to humans, so we should not give death penalty.
2. What happens if after death penalty u find that the person was innocent, but evidence was manipulated by criminals, can u give life back to the innocent victim ?

I believe in the death penalty in this respect. If the crime is henious and meets the statutory requirements then by all means, execution is in order. The husband or wife who kills their spouse accidently in a fit of rage should serve prison time, but should they really be executed?
However, any person who kills a member of the law enforcement community while in the performance of duty, murders for money or gain, contract murders, murder committed while commiting a felony like a burglary or such, the rape and murder of men, women or especially children...then yep...these people are not only a danger to society but serve no purpose or function to society as being kept alive.
These are the type of people that are a danger to everyone, despite being confined for the rest of their lives. Those that kill cops? Well...I'm a firm believer if you kill a cop...then no one is safe. These people need to be removed from society as a danger as well.

Yes. People who do not support the death penalty have never experienced someone close to them being murdered.

Profoundly not, for several practical reasons:
1. Justice is not always done, and people are fairly often convicted of crimes they did not commit.
2. The average death penalty costs the government about 4 times more than the average life imprisonment.
3. It does not work as a deterrent; in fact, serious and violent crimes are notably higher in territories that have the death penalty than in territories that don't.
4. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

In heinous crimes against the person, yes. For crimes like espionage or cowardice in battle, no. I'd like to give the family the choice in the former and the latter need to rot in jail.
