What the matter with most people in here? why are soldiers the only ones who give us our freedom?

You never heard of peace talks? You never heard of negotiating?

Naive am I? Not as naive as those who think soldiers are the only ones who secure our freedom. Actually its the people who talk behind the scenes and calm things down which make things a lot more peaceful for society.

Did Britain stop the IRA because they just killed all its members? Or was it because they worked with and negotiated a settlement that we now have peace in the UK?

So can you all please shut up with this 'Soldiers are the only ones securing our freedom' rubbish and open your eyes.

You open YOUR eyes... the fact is that soldiers are the ONLY ones that are willing you GIVE THEIR LIVES for YOUR freedom. I would love to have you live in a place where only "peace talks" are used, and then whine because of your state of being. Or better yet, someone attack where you live and the military doesnt come and save you. Grow up, and realize the world is not a nice place, never has been, and never will be. The men and women of the armed forces do something that cowards like you will not, STAND UP FOR THEIR FREEDOM, DEFEND THEIR COUNTRY, and GIVE THEIR LIVES FOR F*CK HEADS LIKE YOU THAT TAKE THEIR FREEDOM FOR GRANTED. Edit: What right to I have to talk? The fact that my husband is going on his 3rd deployment to a combat zone in 3 years. The fact that I have had a relative die in every American war, all the way back to the Revoultion. And let me guess, you're going to tell me all of those wars are for nothing and never made the world any better.

I pitty people like you. People that have no clue. If you were drafted to make up the difference in a time of war crisis would you sing a different tune? Or would you lay down and take it it like a pu$$y?

Thank you for trying to make a point about taxes. If they are going here I dont see very much of them. I laugh at you for daring to rather ask what your country can do for you rather then what you can do for your country. War is not what I love, but I do love and support my husband, who puts his life on the line for his country. It's not about the morality of war, it's not about which wars are right or which wars are wrong, and it's not about if war is the only way. It's about HONORING the dead, RESPECTING the fallen, and THANKING all who have served... past, present, and future. Why are the armed forces heros? Because if you ask them they would never consider themselves so. They do a thankless job, a job that is misunderstood, a job that pu$$ies who sit at home and ***** about the fact that their perfect life went wrong because their coffee was decaf instead of regular ans think they know somthing about war and damn their supporters.

We don't GIVE you your freedoms, we protect them from dictators that would take them from you. What other country in the world has the freedoms that Americans have? Without a military, someone would take over and make slaves of us all.

Peace talks? Negotiating? The only reason for anyone to go to the table and talk is because their opponent may be stronger than them. You say, "its the people who talk behind the scenes and calm things down which make things a lot more peaceful for society". If you truely believe that, then you are naive. Who do you think instigated the trouble to begin with? Those same politicians that are NOW at the table, negotiating. How long did the peace talks in Korea go on? Considering that it took almost 6 months just to decide on the shape of the table, I'm surprised that the Korean War ever ended.

The IRA hasn't stopped, they just taking a break. Why did the IRA even start? Because the politicians couldn't agree, and started taking over. Then they had the military to enforce it, and went back to the table.

Please open your eyes to everything. Not just a skewed view. I am not a war monger, nor do I enjoy war. I do, however, have a realistic view of the world, and the evil that is prevelant in it.

Someone once said that all evil needs is for good people to do nothing. If we weren't there to protect you, where would you be?

We become involved when other Nations need our help because they do not have the resources to defend themselves or their people. If we were in a similar position and other countries were reaching out to assist us, some people in that country would be calling their leaders out for sticking their noses in other people's business just the same. Every Soldier, Marine, Airman and Sailor over there is fighting for Afghani freedom from the Taliban and to uproot insurgencies that train and outfit terrorists like the ones who struck on 9-11.

Are you honestly stupid enough to believe that peace talks would ever work if there wasn't the threat of military action behind them? AMAZING!!!!! What incentive would there be without that threat? So don't tell me that peace talks bring freedom by themselves. You won't have freedom without the military. Period.

Military wives take care of everything at the drop of a hat, enabling our husbands to serve without distractions from the mission at hand. I have no doubt that's a h*ll of a lot more than you have ever done for your country. You owe USMC Wife and the rest of us an apology.

Your point is a valid one, as it takes all kinds to ensure peace and stability. I think the partisanship bickering is truly disgusting and greatly harms the morale of the men and women spilling their blood in support of freedom.
