Rheumatoid athritis (my spelling isn't much better) is treatable as far as I am aware. Also please bear in mind that there are literally millions of researchers all across the world researching every topic you could imagine, but only some get picked up on by the popular press. If you look at the amount of work published in one year, only a very small percentage is on HIV or even any one particular area.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection results from 1 of 2 similar retroviruses (HIV-1 and HIV-2) that destroy CD4+ lymphocytes and impair cell-mediated immunity, increasing risk of certain infections and cancers. Initial infection may produce nonspecific febrile illness. The risk of subsequent manifestations—related to immunodeficiency—is proportional to the level of CD4+ lymphocytes. Manifestations range from asymptomatic carriage to the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), which is defined by serious opportunistic infections or cancers. HIV infection is diagnosable by antibody or antigen testing. Treatment aims to suppress HIV replication by combinations of drugs that inhibit HIV enzymes.
Human Immunodeficiency Virus are affecting the population who are sexually active. It can be prevented by following the directions given below.
Health Tip: Prevent HIV infection
• Stay faithful to your partner; do not have multiple sex partners.
• Avoid sex with an infected person and commercial sex workers.
• Use a condom for barrier protection.
• Do not reuse needles or syringes.
But the HIV/AIDS are spreading in geometrical proportions.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease, producing damage mediated by cytokines, chemokines, and metalloproteases. Peripheral joints (eg, wrists, metacarpophalangeal joints) are symmetrically inflamed, often resulting in progressive destruction of articular structures, usually accompanied by systemic symptoms. Diagnosis requires specific clinical, laboratory, and radiologic criteria. Treatment involves drugs, physical measures, and sometimes surgery. Drug therapy combines NSAIDs, which help reduce symptoms, and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs, which slow disease progression.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is affecting only a smaller number of persons irrespective of age. Hence the concern of the population (particularly the younger generation) is justifiable. The HIV/AIDS will cause physical, mental, social and financial problems to the entire human race.
