The US certainly has the mightiest air force and navy in the world. Naval strategy alone would be superior to any country at sea. Our missile programs, with pinpoint accuracy are also part of the air force and naval arsenals, so this reduces the risk to pilots when having to attack a well defended enemy. These, along with our stealth aircraft that are undetectable to conventional radar, our new F-22 Raftor, and many weapons we know nothing about, makes these services a fearsome twosome !
The US Army is probably less effective than it could be. Recruiters have not been able to make mission, thanks to the bad press brought on by the liberals in Congress. Also, it's decision to go co-ed has certainly had negative impact on it's effectiveness ! Plus, homosexuals who have infiltrated it's ranks, discouraged new recruits from signing up!

If you go by the book, it is US, I guess. But certain countries in Asia have a much larger army. There are again others who do not divulge their actual strength.
What puzzles me is why do you want to know. Is it some kind of bet or argument ?

i think there all good but it mostly depends on what you want to get out of it and the career field that you choose, i was 21 years Airforce and i loved it got my degree seen the world and retired .

best for sailing - Navy
best for flying - Air force
Best over all - Civilian
