Am surprised no one has mentioned Pyewacket from Bell Book and Candle, and what about Eliot for t.s. eliot, author of "Old Possums Book of Remarkable Cats?" HooDoo and VooDoo for the girls if you want black cat names, or even something like Elvira or "Singularity," which would convey thoughts of a black hole in space. If you saw the stage production of Cats, perhaps Magical Mr. Mistopheles would please the Goth aspect plus not condemn the cat to a really dark name.

My black male cat is Minnaloushe, like the one in the beautiful poem by Yeats.
The cat went here and there
And the moon spun round like a top,
And the nearest kin of the moon,
The creeping cat, looked up
Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon,
For, wander and wail as he would,
The pure cold light in the sky
Troubled his animal blood.
Minnaloushe runs in the grass
Lifting his delicate feet.
Do you dance Minnaloushe, do you dance?
When two close kindred meet,
What better than call a dance?
Maybe the moon may learn,
Tired of that courtly fashion,
A new dance turn.
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
From moonlit place to place,
The sacred moon overhead
Has taken a new phase.
Does Minnaloushe know that his pupils
Will pass from change to change,
And that from round to crescent,
From crescent to round they range?
Minnaloushe creeps through the grass
Alone, important and wise,
And lifts to the changing moon
His changing eyes.

I always liked "Tar-baby" --from the Song of the South
but Onyx, Spooky, Mudpie, Ebony, Fudge, Smudge,
Midnight, Lucky, Pollywog, and The Prince of Darkness (Prince for short) were all names of black kitties I've had over the years.
Oh, and good for you for taking in such precious little darlings, I always worry about black cats so much!!
Have fun naming, mama!!

I love the name Raven for a black kitty. I had an aunt who named her cat BeeCee (BC for Black Cat). Our black cat's name is Java.
Um, or how about Conrad (he wrote Heart of Darkness).
Schwartz is kinda cute. (black in German)
Dahlia is pretty cute for a female. (the Black Dahlia)
Beauty (Black Beauty) or Pearl (black pearl)
Good luck and congrats on the kittens. :)

Since black cats carry with them the stigma of bad luck, I named my black cat "Second Chance"...Chance for short. Just in case someone thought my cat was bad luck.
Another one I named Bastet after the Egyptian Bast goddess. Cats were highly revered in Egypt and black cats were never looked upon as bad luck.
Just because they back doesn't mean you have give them "dark" names. My daughter named her black cat Godfrey.
Good luck with the names Mom.

You could try midnight or you could try calling one of them My mysterious or Spooky or Blackey or Mystery. Try thinking of names that are surrounded around Halloween. There are - i am sure you could think of a lot of names surrounding around Halloween. Another name that would be good is, Star or even Lexie's. I also like the name Lexie, because it comes from Alexandra.
