Does that mean God approves of Witchcraft, or that ghosts are not demonic? If he doesn't, why would he allow that event to occur? Why not have Samuel appear elsewhere if at all?

n Judaism, some rabbis taught that the spirits of the dead hovered around the body for a year after a person died; this made the spirit of the dead person amenable to being truly summoned during this time, and indicated that the spirit so summoned truly was Samuel, and that Samuel was indeed supernaturally summoned by the witch.

Regardless of the reality of the witch's power, the story can be seen as a satire on Saul. Once Saul was the righteous king who upheld God's law by his sword; having fallen from God's favour, he is reduced to participating in forbidden rituals. He is given no counsel from the ghost of Samuel, who instead appears to confirm his doom.

If you read what happened you will find that the Witch of Endor screamed? She screamed when Samuel appeared because she knew that bringing the dead to life is impossible. She was like her peers a "con artist". There are no ghosts to be brought back from the dead. The modern peers of Endor's witch know that to this day.
When Samuel actually appeared it scared the living hell out her!! She was scared witless to the point that she had no words of wonderment or praise but a stunned and primal reply to what she does not understand. SHE SCREAMED.
God brought about Samuel's spirit because He can. No one else can without Him.
God brought the spirit of Samuel to tell Saul that he has been forsaken because he would not follow God's orders.Saul was told that he would die in the battle to come, and just as no witch can predict the future.....Saul died.
Samuel appeared because Saul wanted to see him. God granted that one visitation; there, and then but no where else for Saul. He got the message, God still maintains His law. No witchcraft bud. It is against God's wishes. The witch of Endor did not bring Samuel back . God did.

What the witch of Endor saw was not Samuel; it was a demon impersonating Samuel. Samuel had already died. The Bible tells us that "the dead are conscious of nothing." Eccl. 9:5. Before his death, Samuel had stopped communicating with Saul because of Saul's disobedience to Jehovah. After Samuel's death, would a practicer of the banned practice of witchcraft force the dead Samuel to now speak to Saul? No.

This one-time event should not be construed as God's endorsement of witchcraft. This is apparently not God's normal method of working. You must understand that Saul SECRETLY went to look for the witch because God has refused to listen to Him. Had God been approving of witchcraft things would have been much different. Note also how the meeting did not bring any comfort to Saul, and the witch was also surprised and shocked. She was probably not expecting a real spirit to appear!

He spoke to what's in many cases a classic spirit. A demon that knows alot some particular human and can pose as that human. remember Samuel became a guy of God and can have by no ability cooperated with a witch. additionally keep in mind that Samuel had already instructed Saul that he became in hardship with God and can loose his kingdom. The spirit only had to place 2 and 2 mutually and are anticipating he might get killed. additionally, in view that Saul became fooling with spirits, he had opened himself to being injury via the demonic, who then controlled the conflict right here day to be sure he died.

If you read alittle farther you'll see that Samuel berated Saul for resorting to witchcraft rather than turning to God. There is nothing in the Bible that says witchcraft doesn't exist. It does say that one should turn away from it because it's not from God but the liar. Satan is pretty good as an illusionist.

Very good answers above.

A man's work is not judged by what he can or cannot do. But according to the will of God. Even those who can perform miracles in the name of God are not spared of eternal damnation if they don't live according to God's will.

it says in the bible that when people "talk to the dead" than it is not really that dead person but a demon or evil spirit. and no he does not approve but this world was basicly handed over to satan once adam and eve ate the apple and people are given free will to do as they chose so put 2 and 2 together and there you go.
